Dometic Refrigerator diffuser stuck

I need to clean the Flue on the fridge the diffuser seems to be stuck in the flue. Just wiggle and shake on it to free it up, or just leave it alone and use a wire or something to get as much crud out as possible?

Bruce, About all you can do is wiggle that diffuser around til it  loosens up.  Don't apply a lot of force to it.
You have to do it from the top.  If it won't come out leave well enough alone.  If the reefer is 8 to 10 years old and has lasted this long just leave it be til it fails.

Bruce, are you talking about what is called the spiral baffle? Gary's leave well enough is probably good advice but you should be able to get it out of there. Normally, you reach down from the top, grab the baffle's supporting wire and pull it right up the flue. Make sure you are pulling only the wire and not the mounting bracket. I had to bend the bracket to get the wire off mine. If it is stuck, there must be a lot of rust around it. Anyhow, if you remove the burner you will have good access to the baffle. If you stick your finger up there you can feel it. If it's stuck and won't pull out from the top, I would tap it loose from the bottom.

Here's a link to my thread on cleaning the flue.

Mine was recently clogged so much that the gas heater would shut down. I tapped on the outside of the flew knocking rust and debris loose the vacuumed it out. Now everything is again fine. I probably should inspect the flew thoroughly before I use the gas function much. The unit is 21 years old.

I recently ran into the same problem. I simply tapped the sides to get more debris down and used an air can to clear away the rusty flakes. Fridge started right up. Going on a 500 mile trip and while I'll be plugged in, I will test the propane lighting again. I will the repeat the process until it becomes reliable.

Thanks for the replies. Gary you are probably right about leave Well enough alone. However my nature is going to make get on the roof and mess with it, you know the old fix it till it's really broken. Maybe a little tap here and there will get loose. If not I'll take a piece of wire and clean it as best I can.

Bruce, you are a man after my own heart, I just cannot stand to have some stubborn little part defeat me, If someone put it together than there is no reason that I can't take it apart.  ( this attitude keeps the parts suppliers solvent )
