What is this button for?

Good morning!  Still learning our new coach..............what is the silver button used for in the attached picture next to the LP Gas Protechtor.  It is located near the floor in the bathroom hall in our 97 U295.

Thanks in advance!

Could be a test button. Will beep for a bit after you push it.

It looks like a custom add-on momentary switch and because is next to LP detector, may have something to do with it. Suggest you remove detector screws and pull it out enough to see the wires and to which wire the push button is connected.

Most have problems with this model of propane detector.

When the detector goes off with a false alarm, (which can be often) it is hard to turn off and on, and the best way by far is to disconnect 12+ power wire for a moment. Your pushbutton could be a normally closed switch and with a push disconnect red wire to reboot detector.

When detector alarms, it also usually turns off a valve at the propane tank which stops all propane flow (furnace, stove, hot water & refrigerator). And it seems to take forever for the valve to turn back on after a detector reset causing inconvience. Some have disconnected the valve and all new replacement detectors no longer have a wire going to the valve and don't use a valve.

Our approach was to buy another propane detector, mount near the floor in the kitchen, remove shut-off valve & keep original detector so we have redundancy. When one goes off, it is usually false, when both go off it is not false.

All of our hard wired detectors have a switch next to them to turn 12+ power for resets.

We also have two CO detectors in the bedroom for the same redundancy and safety as CO can put one in a permanent sleep, and CO can come from a neighboring RV.

If you happen to have the "Tubo T-Super Suction Electronic Toilet" like Jeff and Carol Savournin's, it may be the ejection button for the toilet seat. IF that sucker malfunctions it can really be dangerous.

Just a thought.
