Thomas Compressor - Spare

After watching eBay for the last two years, I finally bought a spare auxiliary compressor. It was advertised as "New", but did show some abrasion and one corner of the mounting plate was bent a little. Tested it by filling a portable air tank; took 5 or 6 minutes. It runs a good bit quieter than ours. Ours was installed in '07 and this one was mfg'd in '11. I think I got a good spare at a good price ($316.00 with shipping).

My mechanic rebuilt my Gast compressor last spring...I was going to buy a new one but he likes to show off and I couldn't think of a reason to deny him the opportunity...

The newer ones also have an o-ring seal rather than a paper-ish gasket which will be much more serviceable in the future.  I don't know what year/serial number started using the o-ring version.

We installed our eBay-purchased replacement compressor since it has the o-ring and keep our original (2003) rebuilt as a spare.

Good idea. I'm hoping I can find something solid in that bay so I can bolt the spare to the floor right next to the one that's installed.
Do you know what year your ebay one is?

I will have to look to see if it's on the label, but we bought it as NOS in 2011, so prior to that.

Anyone kno here these can get rebuilt?  I replaced our 2001 compressor last winter with a new ($$$) one from FT.  It would be nice to have a spare or two running at the same time.

You can DIY the Thomas TA-4101-DC.  HWH Pump Rebuild.  If you're more comfortable having a shop do it, try USA Representatives for a service location.

Just to confuse us all, the model Thomas that came in my 2001 320 is 405ADC38/12F with 10 amp rating.

Yup, figured that one out, Dave.  Zoro has rebuid kits for about $95.  I am going to order one and rebuild my old pump.  The pumps in the 2003 are bigger, more HP, more air volume and have two outlets and, of course, more money.
