Star Light LED florescent light mounting

We just changed all of our ceiling florescent lamps to Star Lights Revolution LED T8-18 lights.  The reason for the change was to have much bright lighting.  Energy saving is not one of the strong points of these bright bulbs as they use about the same amps as fluorescents.  Also to get the LEDs so bright, they have a heat-sink on the back and the bulbs get a little warm.

Some of the new LED bulbs used the existing F15T8 fixture sockets, but several ceiling lights had incompatible U-shaped florescent bulbs. 

After removing the U-bulb fixtures, we considered buying new F15T8 fixtures or maybe florescent bulb end-sockets just to hold new LED bulbs, but ended up with a simpler solution.

We used two screw-eyes and thin 18-pound cable ties to hold new LEDs in place.  Wiring is quite simple with the individual small connector sockets and wire nuts.

Bulb package specifications:  9-25 volts, 623 milliamps, 7.1 watts, 810 lumens, 4,500k.

Thanks to both of you! What Barry shows is exactly what we have, failed, thou mine is the "hall-light", and is narrower.  A "like" LED replacement for the GE F36BX/840 appears (after lots of looking) to simply not be available. It appears, Barry, that your upgrade is the way to go. To keep is "simple" I was about to push the "buy" button on MarineBeam's "Economy 15" T5 LED Fluorescent-Style Low-Profile Strip Light", which (it appears) would fit where the existing F36BX fixture is in the recessed ceiling box.

Follow-up for Barry; A second look shows you did both the narrower and wider boxes; missed that. The replacement T8-18 bulbs you show appear to fit "exactly" in the existing box,, once the old hardware is stripped out? The actual wiring hook-up doesn't show; The receptacles the LED replacements seat in are on one end only? Or both?

You are correct, we used the eyelet screws and wire ties for all U-lamp fixtures.  I thought about installing straight fixtures or just the end pin holding brackets, but ended up with the cable tie idea.

The box is longer than the LED lamps so it is not a tight fit.

Wiring is simple, we just used the positive and negative wires, extending if needed, and used wire nuts to attach each of the bulbs cables together with the coach wires.  The LED does NOT use the end pins electrically.  The pins are only used to hold LED bulbs in an original fixture, but only after the fixture is completely disconnected from power.

The dummy pins are on both ends.  The pins can be rotated so as to point the directional LED lighted side downward.

Our bulbs are bright and we find our motorhome much brighter when they are on.  We love the improvement.  We only used the Starlights over the sink, and all five ceiling fixtures.  Not in our four under-cabinet fixtures.
