Hard Start Capacitor for AC Compressor Motor

I have been reading up on the use of a hard start capacitor with a Dometic AC unit. They say this will assist the compressor motor starting. This capacitor is used with the capacitor already there.

Does anyone have more technical information on this topic, have possibly put one into their unit, and/or comment on the use of this item. Any assistance is greatly appreciated as always.

We did recently replace the two capacitors and one start resistor in each roof A/C. We read about the hard start kit, but since all was working ok, we just pro-actively replaced the capacitors.

I can't speak to the technical aspects but we used them when I was in the HVAC business for older compressors. We also used them in locations that had persistent low voltage problems. They did help.

what condition are you trying to correct or what problem are you trying to solve with a Hard start kit? What model Dometic unit are we talking about?
