air bag part numbers

Hi all, we need help getting the part number of the airbags fitted to our 1991 Unihome Grandvilla. Can anybody help we need to buy 8 new ones as the original ones have perished. All I can see on the original ones is they are Firestones. Do they have bumpstops? Difficult to change myself? Any help is appreciated as we are in uk and getting parts is always a challenge.

Thank you

Hey Pamela & Mike, thanks for the link, would this be the same bags for my 1997 U270?

Liz & Andy, welcome, don't mean to hijack your thread!  :)

I had mine changed last year and watched the tech sweat bullets trying to get the top inside bolts off.
I know someone on the forum devised a tool to help him.

The thrust of this missive: I have been  looking at a set of box wrenches that have a ratchet box on a hinge. I think Craftsman. It can ratchet a couple of clicks at a time from interesting angles. I thought about getting one and taking my bag out just to see - but then I decided to wait till needed (say 18 years or so :D )

Yes.  When you dump the air out of the bags it looks like the tires are sitting on the floor but they are really resting on the internal rubber stops.  If you check with a magnet you will find no steel in the floor above the tires.
No but it is work.  With a narrow body (8 foot wide) coach I found the top inside bolts impossible to reach without pulling the fenders.  Which means pulling the molding on the top edge of the fenders.  Which means pull the whole 12 foot long piece of molding with all the silicone sealant too.  Don't let me discourage you though, I really didn't try all that hard to keep the fenders in place because I thought it would be a good opportunity to clean things up round there and repaint some of the framing.
There are many previous post about air bag replacements to read through.  Here's one: Air Bags
By the way, nice to see you back on the forum.  I remember your coach (it's identical to mine) and saved the photos of your interior redesign for possible future inspiration.

Thanks Roger, I had that web site too but didn't have the right part number, this would save $164 on 8 bags. ^.^d

You all have been extremely helpful. Thank you. Just need to try and find some in the Uk now. Not very promising so far though.

Andy & Liz, there's a way to compute the international shipping charge before you pay for the bags, click on the link above for the truck springs site, locate the shipping estimate box (right side of screen) & scroll down to UK, put in your city and postal code and you see how much they would charge for shipping them directly to you. You can then just leave the site, no order is placed, until you decide whether this is a good idea for you.

Hi just a quick update,
From truckspring carriage is over $300 and then i am not sure how much import tax there may be but as a last resort i will get them, not that i have a choice lol. I will keep trying to get them here for a few more days. I suppose I had better start cleaning threads.  wish me luck. Only got a year to do it lol Thanks again for all your help. :D

$300 sounds reasonable to me. 8 of the air bags take up quite a bit of space and they are not lightweight items. Last week I shipped a 16 pound box, about 2 cubic feet in volume, across the country from Florida to California and it was $40.00
Do a search for "air bag" on the forum and you will get all the info you need to change them yourself. Also look into getting new 90* fittings as mentioned in old posts.
I say, good luck old boy,
Good luck,
Rick
