How to keep 2007 Nimbus step retracted when parked

Hi Folks,

We have our 2007 Nimbus parked (barely) in our driveway for a couple of weeks. Is there anyway to retract the outside step in while the coach is off and parked?

We too had the same problem with our 07 Nimbus. Since this an air activated step, we found that nothing could be done. Yes, you can have a valve installed to dump the air and maybe you might be able to push it in manually, but what a job that would be each time. We also considered changing the step but was told that the retrofit would not be very stable since it would not have all the supports needed. I found this to be one flaw of the coach but one I could ignore. There are others like the paint work, but that is for another thread.

Fairly easy to disconnect the air cylinder that operates the step (mine has 2), they are connected with a simple snap ring and pin. Then the step moves in freely by hand.

There is a difference between the Phoenix and the Nimbus steps.

Don, you will find that these steps have an air actuator that is very problematic. It has to do with the placement of the air cylinder and the exposure to the elements from the road. We replaced and/or repaired the air cylinder and adjustment mechanism many times,especially when we encountered rough roads. Our build numbers are digits away from each other and we were original owners from its conception. Gone through many, many issues over 65000 miles. Good luck with yours.

Hmmm.

Thank you for that, Bob. Given our recent vintages, I'm going to keep you in mind.

The only unusual issue we have had is a fuel problem (caused by me) right after I picked up the coach. I posted a thread about this back in May or June of this year which indicated the fuel lines on a 2007 Nimbus may have been hooked up incorrectly during the build. The generator and engine lines were reversed. This had apparently been discovered on one other 2007 Nimbus. Just a heads up.

Thank you again. Will keep an eye on the step, but not going to mess with it to override.

Thank you Don for this heads up. We had trouble with the fuel gauge and had the sending unit replaced with one of those "radar" sensing units used on the new coaches. Since that was installed, it has work flawlessly.

Bob,

I may also replace our unit. It really fluctuates.

Just be aware that the issue I referred to won't bite you until you get to 1/4 tank of fuel remaining. At that point, the generator is supposed to run out of fuel (giving you adequate to get to a fuel stop in case you were boondocking and had the gen going a lot). With the lines reversed, the engine will quit at 1/4 gallon while the gen continues to hum merrily along.

MOT swapped the fuel lines for no charge, since I had purchased the coach from them. Can't say enough about those guys, but that's a separate thread.

If you don't mind, let me know how you went about having the sending unit replaced.
