Where Did You Get Those Drawings ?

I have several drawings in my owners folder, but many show up here that I haven't seen. Are they available from FOT ?

If you don't have them in your black Foretravel binder, first check Barry's great info site at: FORETRAVEL Motorhomes service and Repair Information  Next, look for what you need using the search function. It's the fourth one over from Home. Still no joy, just ask and a member can email it.

@James FOT also sells the complete set of drawings. You can buy and an electronic version or a printed version. The printed version is considerably more expensive. Call FOT parts if you are interested.

Ken,

What do the drawings include? For all models or model specific? Price for electronic version?

For specific items when you're working on something at the moment, James T. may be able to e-mail you a copy of a particular page (let's not flood him with requests, now ;)  )

I vaguely recall for the original schematics/owner's manual a few years ago someone was able to order them from Parts for a fee.  I don't know if that's still the case but it would be worth a call.  You will definitely need your build number when you call since drawings change over time (like the keyless entry/Hawk drawing I posted).

BTW - take the list of components/serial numbers provided in the Owner's box with a grain of salt.  We discovered this past summer (during our speed sensor issue) that the list we and FT have for our build number doesn't match what we actually have - wrong engine, transmission etc. numbers and missing the tag axle completely.  FT couldn't find the correct list even looking back/forward several builds or VINs.

Last year, while at FOT, there was a posting in the breakroom indicating that electrical drawings were available in a .pdf format.  I contacted Andrew Shaw and received everything via attachments to emails.  I really like having a electronic version of the drawings..  Here's a cut and paste of Andrew's contact info:

Please keep in mind that what I will be giving you in the Owners Manuel and electrical drawings as they were in 2000 for the U320

I too saw the posting in the Customer Lounge at FOT available printed and PDF.  I have found that the drawings that I need, not in my FT binder, have been available as stated above.  FoFum members and Beamalarm.

When I am looking for a drawing I search here first, then BeamAlarm then post the need on this forum.  I have always found the drawing that I have been looking for.  Michelle is a wonderful resource for us and has an amazing handle on these kinds of things.

Once I get the drawing I file it in my computer in my Coach file in the proper folder.

Thanks for the replies, looks like I have a trip to Nac in my near future. I know that there are several options here for different drawings, but....I have had other net based sources disappear overnight, and, I am often in areas without Internet access. It behoves me to have what I need in my hands. Back in the olden days...."hot hands on cold steel".

My comments on the documents were based on a posting in the laundry room, customer lounge, and by the parts department at FOT last May. IIRC there where 2 sets of documents. One set for older coaches and one for newer coaches. The posting listed the cutoff years but I can't remember what they were. I think 93' and older and 94' and newer?? If anyone is at FOT can you look for the posting or maybe ask in parts?

Also the electronic version was well over a $100. The paper docs where over $250. Hope I got that right.

Pierce no idea what all the documents contained. I assume it contains all the schematics. Seems unlikely they would contain all the product manuals.

Last time I was at FOT, Mark Harvey was nice enough to go through my book and make copies of the drawings I didn't have. Dave M was with me at the time.

Having the specific drawings for a specific coach might be a lifesaver. We have wasted a fair amount of time and effort because there were a couple of different cooling systems used. Most of the parts that Foretravel sent us earlier this week will be sent back because they are the wrong parts. The right parts should arrive tomorrow morning. Had Cabin Diesel been able to give Foretravel the VIN number and Foretravel been able to look up the coach and know EXACTLY what parts were needed we might have been on the road earlier this week. I don't know if we will be able to head for Stillwater tomorrow or not, and neither does anyone else.

I asked Trace what, if anything, could have been done differently. He said that the only thing he could think of would be to take the whole system out of the coach, spread it out on the floor, and take pictures of everything, then sent Foretravel those pictures. I'll have all of the paperwork for this in my notebook, so the next owner of this coach will be able to find out what I have now, but that won't help me when the next thing breaks. I'm going to start crawling around the engine and write down every bit of information I can find on everything I can see.

@David Back in the bad old days when Foretravel was in trouble they jettisoned a lot of the old documents. They don't have per coach information on coaches older than about 95'. Hopefully someone else on here knows the exact cutoff. Luckily the guys that built the coaches still work there. Plus Mark Harvey and James Triana still know just about everything there is to know about our old girls.
