Baffled by the non working switch

Hello FF folks!

Have what I hope is a simple solution to our non working overhead switch ( all of a sudden) in the galley.
Our 2000 U320 has 2 switchs on the same plate. The left one operates the 2 over- the- sink lights while the right one the larger flourescent light in the middle of salon.
The left switch suddenly does not turn on those 2 lights, while the rt switch still activates the larger one.
We have looked at the fuses (removed them to view) in the bedroom and none seem to be faulty. We have checked the switch and that is not faulty.
Is there another fuse location to check, other than under the bed?
thanks for your response, I'm hoping to SOON see the light(s) !

Bad switch? Try shorting the two wires and see if the lights come on.

If the fuses are good then I would check for a loose wire at the switch. Remove the screws from the switch plate and carefully pull the plate out. The wires connected to the switches may not have much extra length.  As sson as there is enough out tomsee the wires check to see if both sides of the switch have wires connected to them. If not and you can see the loose wire with a push on connectorand can grab it with a needle nose pliers or something similar and reconnect it.  Good idea to pull the fuse first.

If all of that doesn't work and there isn't enough wire to pull the switch plate out far enough then you get to discover how to take apart the inside of the cabinet where the switch is to get at the wiring.

Get a little cup or something similar in which to put all of the screws you remove. Take everything including the shelves out of the cabinet. Mark where the shelf brackets are with a small, piece of masking tape and remove tose. In mine there is an upper piece of carpet like stuff velcroed on to the wall, pull it off. The inside bottom of my cabinet was nailed on with small brads.  You need to pull it out, remove the brads, use a couple of small screws later to replace it.  The inside side of the cabinet has 4-6 screws. Take those out and the side panel will come out.  The screws are likely #2 square head drive screws.  Note where the wires that are there go.  There are serveral wires including 110v wiring and they have to go back in the same way to allow the panel to fit back in correctly.

Hope this helps.

We have had a light switch go bad as well, so that's definitely a possibility.

Hi, thanks for your thoughtful responses . I have taken the 2 switches down & the wires are tight there is current going to the right hand switch but no current to the left hand switch. I did put a wire across each switch & the right hand worked but the left hand did not. I think there is a fuse some were that I have not located yet. Any ideas where to look?

My guess is the other end of that wire (not) supplying power to the switch got pulled off the fuse or circuit breaker. I would expect to see other things not working if it was a fuse or cb blown. My coach has most of those breakers behind the passenger side kick panel. If you have your coach's wiring diagrams, they will show exactly how power gets to that switch.

Most of your 12v interior lighting uses fuses located in the fuse panels in front of the bed.  Check their first.

Just a thought, on my 99 that light is also operated by a lighted switch at the front step well. If that's the case it will have a relay somewere that maybe bad. If you have your wireing diagrams you should be  able to see it. Finding the relay is another story.
