Our 91 gv

Our 91 GV seems to be different in a lot of ways.  It has the aftercooling cooler on the driver's side in front of the engine radiator.  The curb side has only the air cleaner.  With the aftercooler set up, does that make it a 3208TA??  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

What chassis/exact model do you have?  Lots of choices in 1991 including several Foretravel models and some Oskhosh models.

Ours has 2 model #s:  On one plate it says it is a model # VC26RD4.  On the other plate it says it is a model # G91378836SBIORED300.  This no. says a lot about the machine, (ie, year is a 91, build no. is 3788, 36ft, SBI (??), Oshkosh rear engine diesel, 300hp).  It would be interesting to get any info relative to the build no. that would shed some light on any special order items and extras.  Is that possible??  Tnx and have a great day  ----  Fritz

Fritz, the 3208TA I was interested in had upper and lower grills on the rear of the driver's side, upper grill on the rear of the curb side, and one huge grill practically all the way across the back.

Mogan David (as in mad dog 20-20?)  Sounds like our set up is as you stated.  The upper louvered door on the driver's side hinges and that is where the radiator and after cooler are.  The lower louvered door does not hinge, but is louvered for cooling of the radiator purposes.  Rear door is engine access.  Curb side door is air cleaner access, but you have to remove the filter element from the engine hatch.  All things considered, it is a very good layout from a maintenance point of view.  Access to the top of the engine is very good by lifting the bed.  If you (or anyone) is considering one of these, I'd recommend it.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

That 300 hp 3208 was a real runner. They would really get up and go. In the 36 foot made a real hot rod. They made a funny noise when the transmission shifted, that was only in the ones with the 300 hp, and everyone I drove were the same.

If you have your foot into it much at all, you'd best be hanging on when it shifts into second!!  I'm not sure about funny noises when it shifts, but you sure can tell it is shifting.  If a belt is loose, you can hear it squeal when it shifts.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz
