Nacogdoches things to see and do while there for service

Looking for things to do while in Nacogdoches for the weekend and the week. Any suggestions are appreciated. Usually I just stay in waiting area or the coach, however, this time I am towing the jeep. So in order to make the DW happy, I need attractions and restrauants along with other interesting things to do.

Across the road from the azalea gradens is the Mize Gardens and a network of trails back through the woods.  It is a nice area.  Tucker's woods a bit north from the azalea gardens.  Is anpther nice walking area, good parking and bathrooms something that seems to be limited in the parks.

We were in NAC for a month.  Lots of good places to eat but our favorite was Auntie Pastas.  There are a lot of food places to pick from.

Yesterday  I took MANY photos in the SFASU arboretum and gardens.  Good thing I wasn't going through rolls of 35mm film or I wouldn't be able to pay Xt when they're finished. :o  Got to remember they don't take plastic. After the gardens, I went up the road (North St) to happy hour at Maklemore's. Half price apps and $3 house wine and live guitar/vocalist (Wednesday). Was astonished to see they have Founders (Michigan ;-) Dirty Bastard on tap.
The day before, I found LaCaretta. Although I was there lunch time, seniors can have the reduced price lunch menu anytime.
As for the gardens, be sure to go first to campus Parking & Traffic Office, Wilson Dr, Parking Garage, for a Visitor Parking Permit.  Mine is valid through Apr 10. Otherwise, WATCH OUT!  They are strict about parking.  I passed at least one improperly parked car w a "boot" clamped to one wheel.  :help:

Free parking at Tucker's Woods and only a 10-15 minute walk to the Azelea Gardens or campus.
