What happens when you plug into 50 Amp 3 Phase?

I don't know but on the road to find out.  I had the coach in a shop to have the oil changed, serviced and Aero resinator installed.  The 50 amp receptacle was not marked 3 phase and the coach was plugged in.  The Mavrick switch unit box is smoked.  Per James that is the first thing next will be the inverter and we will see from there.  David

Out of curiosity, which outlet on the following site did the one you plugged into look like?

Whi plugged it in ? If the shop plugged it in not knowing what they were doing i would look to them to pay to repair the damage.
Should NOT of been possible to plug into a receptacle other then 120 Volts.  Something is sure not right here.

3phase comes in many different voltages.

If your plug is straight blade type you should not be able to plug into a 3 phase receptacle.  3 phase has one blade 90 deg to the rest.  looks like a little shade tree electrical work on the receptacle.  They should pay for plugging you in.

They must of put in the wrong receptacle. 3 phase uses a different type or receptacle and the 50 amp 220/120 plug that the
motorhomes use shouldn't go in

Great David, I am a firm believer that you should expect folks to pay for stupidity.

The answer to your original question, depending on if it is wye or delta configuration, you will see up to 240 volts between neutral and one or both legs.  Anything that was on at the time it was plugged in will likely be fried.  Specifically, inverter, battery charger, and transfer relays. Hopefully that's all.

Another thing.  Make sure that you check everything that was plugged in even if it was turned off.  Many things are still "live" even when off such as TV & audio equipment.

The Maverick box has been replaced and now have power to the coach.
All electrical equipment has been tested with the Microwave, refrigerator and Line Voltage Power Monitor being fried.  All other equipment seems to be ok right now.  The big question is where can I purchase a new or used line voltage monitor or have this one repaired.  FOT no longer stocks them or has any information on how to repair.  Thanks in advance for your help.  David

David,

Since your Maverick transfer switch was toasted, verify operation of the secondary transfer switch that is inside the foot of the bed - it takes inputs from shore and inverter and feeds it out to the smaller breaker box (the one without a cover).  Make sure it works in both modes - shore and off inverter.

Call these guys up, they can repair almost any electrical board. You'll get to talk to somebody that knows there stuff: Generator & RV Controls Repair and Replacements, Engine Monitoring, Idle...
Krush YOU are the MAN.  Bookmark this site.  Unit is on the way.  I called and there is no charge to troubleshoot the unit and will call with a repair price prior to starting any work.  Thank you VERY much.

Michelle, that switch checked out good.  I have 115VAC at all outlets and inverter power.  Thanks for the heads up.

Hope it works out. I bought a voltage regulator from there and it works great. I haven't had anything repaired by them, but I know lots of people on a boat forum that have used them. My conversations on phone with them gave me good feelings though.

Update on my 3 phase incident. A new Maverick switch box was received and replaced.  The green light on the surge protector was not working.  A call to Mark got a replacement in route.  New surge suppresser installed yesterday and we now have a green light.  A new Sharp R1875T has been received and awaiting installation.
Line Voltage Power Monitor is in repair at flightsystems (thank you Krush) estimated repair less than $150.00.
Awaiting arrival of residential refrigerator and will get that installed.  Will keep you posted as we progress. David

That's not a 3phase plug.....are they using a 14-50R for a 3phase power? If that was the case, then you likey ended up with phase to phase because your RV is wired to go from hot to neutral. Phase to phase can be may different voltages, and if it was normal 480v you'll get 480v phase to phase and ~277v phase to neutral (if applicable).
