8K Power Tech end bearing replacement

I would like to know if anyone has replaced the end bearing or did you have someone do it for you.
Thanks Bill

Bill,
I had mine done.
Didn't want to chance smoking the generator if I did something wrong on reassembly.

Where have y'all had the end bearing changed?  We need to have it done and it would be nice to find a service tech that has experience changing PowerTech end bearings.
We heard from PowerTech that non-use of generator may allow the pre lubricated end bearing to have its grease migrate down, leaving some surfaces without lubrication.  We try to run our generator, but being plugged into campground electricity keeps us from running it often.  So when I think about it I give our generator a short crank just to rotate the end bearing.  We have manual pre-heat and manual start, so it is easy to crank without preheat.

Barry,
I had mine changed at Cummins North West in Seattle.
Any good generator shop could do it.
Talk to them about removing three engine mount bolts then loosen the last one and you can rotate the unit enough to get the end off the generator.
You can also call Power Tech to find an approved shop in your area.
I think the bearing change requirement varies on different generators so check with Power Tech to see if yours is due.
