Replacing blown Dash backlight Electroluminescent (EL) panels

Don't know what causes these to go,  nonetheless,  the back lighting is gone on my Generator  switch panel and mostly gone on the AC/Heat control panel.    The Javelina switch panel is glowing fine.    My search resulted in a website that sells flexible EL panels in 10cm and 20cm sizes that run 12VDC and can be cut to fit and will work as long as the original connector remains with the piece to be used.

Has anyone any experience replacing any of these dash EL panels? Foravel does not carry any replacement parts for these.
