Our visit to HWH

Update on my stop at HWH today.  They had our coach in the shop and on the raised ramp by 7:30AM.  They found six minor leaks, one in an HWH manifold which they fixed and marked the others. The tech said none we big.  All were up front near the two service tanks.  He checked all of the airbags for wear and leaks and said they all looked good.  Very nice to see everything from underneath.  I was thinking of John H.

We were done and on the road by 9:30.  $48.34.

I met another Forum Member there from BC. He had a late 90's 34'.  He knew who I was from the forum but I cannot remember his name.  I hope he will PM me.  He arrived today for an appointment tomorrow.  They got him in today.  It doesn't hurt to get there early.

We have an appt for the day after Memorial day to get our rear slide bladder replaced on our way to the Maritimes Motorcade.
I found a large slice in the bladder.  :'(  :'(

Sounds like a class operation... on my list for sure. By the way your headlight, foglight, and license plate recess looks great! Xtreme sure does nice work and Rance was a true pleasure to work with.

Try the Tipton Family Restaurant in Tipton, about 10 miles north of HWH, for any meal.  Good food, local prices. 

Thanks, Don. We like the look.  Lots of nice comments since it was done. Most folks have no idea that it is almost 15 years old.

It's less than five hours to Hastings if you want to come for a visit.  50 amp, water and room for a 40ft. Roger

That's right where we spent a night a year ago. We were up on the yellow ramp bright and early, too, but they found lots of leaks, none serious, and replaced several parts. They couldn't finish in one day, so we spent the night right there - up in the air. Yes, a first-class operation.

Yes, liked the Tipton Walmart Pharmacy along with the Tipton Resturant when visiting the HWH operation a few years ago.
Surprised they had a Walmart & Pharmacy.

HWH gets unfailingly positive reports from Forum members!  If only there were more RV-related shops as accommodating and trustworthy!

Every time I see photos of a Foretravel perched on those HWH ramps, I think to myself "That wouldn't be too difficult...gather up a few pieces of quality steel, hire a good oilfield welder...VOILA!"  Then I wake up...  :(

The HWH yellow ramp is made with some massive I beams, my kind of engineering.  They drive right on to it from the side of the building where the drive way area is at the same height as the ramp.  Nice to have what, 24' inside height?  The part of the building where they do inside service is maybe 10% of the whole building.  The rest is fabrication.  There are two more buildings on this side of the road and another on the other side where they do electronics stuff.

Now to get home and get after my leaks.

HWH is a great place. I have gone there a few times and they have always delivered.

Nice they allow you to stay in the coach overnight.  That is what Foretravel (Tennessee) did when we bought our coach.

I always get a chuckle recalling the owner of HWH telling us what HWH stands for:
"Hard Work & Hardship"

Roger, I appreciate the report, and the picture of the rig on the lift.  How many days/weeks out did you book your appointment? Depending on time of year, I'm sure it can change.

Hi Bob, I called bout three weeks in advance to get the day I wanted.  Pick a T, W, Th if you can.  You can arrive on Monday.  If you get there on a Sunday you cannot get in where the hookups are.  A Friday appt is OK but if there are any complications you might have to spend the weekend.

Nice COE campground (Fisherman's Corner) I80 at the Mississippi River.  Another just North of Des Moines on Saylorville Lake.

Aren't they great?  Maggie and I spent the night there one cold December night. I was ready to pull out for the night and they plugged the coach in and said there's a door you can go out to walk Maggie.  I asked if there would be a night watchman around and he said no.  If amything happens call 911.  Not sure how many million dollars worth of stuff they left me in there alone with. Great people.

PS.  Maggie is my dog not my wife.
