Filters for the 1989 (split from another topic)

Mark,

Our 1993 Detroit 6V-92TA uses the following filters:

Oil- NAPA 1970
Fuel- Secondary (mounted on engine) NAPA 3120
Fuel- Primary (mounted on chassis w/see through bottom) Parker-Racor S3202
Coolant Filter- Use filter dependent on type of coolant.

Cross Reference Wix or Baldwin as they are excellent filters, pass on Fram.

Recommend to carry 2 spare primary and secondary fuel filters plus large baggy to catch diesel when changing.
Detroit Diesel recommends 15K change intervals for oil. I change at 10K. Only use SAE #40 Delo 100 (not 400). O'Reilly can get it overnight or Chevron distributor. Buy 7 gallons and fill 5.5 gallons. Change with warm engine. Never use a multi-grade oil.

Change alternator belts. Recommend digital photo of data plate on alternator and using Gates green stripe fleet belts.

Mark,

Only one on ours, located on the driver's side a bit forward low down and close to the engine.

A pair of axle caps are about $39 and may be part number MR8D-1 but check by counting. Buy at: Price List - Blank Title If you tow, remove BOTH axles (that's why they are sold by the pair). You won't need a gasket with these, just tighten the nuts down.

Tow truck driver may be lazy and try to tell you removing one is fine. It's not.
