Mystery Switch

This three position switch is mounted just below the driver's left vent on our 2005 U320. So far I have been unable to find anything it operates.  Does anyone have a suggestion what this could possibly operate?

Steve - I can't help you, but I'm bumping this to the top because I want to hear the answer.  Somebody must know!

Looks like an aftermarket switch. Are there wires hooked up to it?

Don't know if wires are hooked to it.  I assume so but will try to look later.  So far, nothing beeps, lights up, hums, whines, or otherwise indicates operation. I keep forgetting about it because it's out of the way. Also doesn't make the coach go faster, slower, or use less fuel. If it was two position, I would have guessed an on/off switch for something added.  The three positions intrigues me.

On my 05 there is no switch like that anywhere on the dash.

Well Bill, I kinda thought it the switch to nowhere.  Just added by PO when they sold it to make the new owner wonder....whats this do?  I had several for a year that I thought that the only purpose, later found they did something.

I agree with Toyman.  Switch to keep steps from retracting when you close door?

I'm betting on the step also. My switch is hidden in the passenger side front bay. I must remember to tell the next owner what it is and how it works.

I will check the step operation tomorrow. It definitely isn't the shades. The switch only moves up and down with a center position. Seems like the steps would only be on/off. If it's for the ejection seat, then the explosive charges need to be serviced.

Tell the occupant of the passenger seat it is an electrocution switch for people that don't behave or treat the driver like royalty! :))

If it's the flux capacitor, then I am out of nuclear fuel, because I have experienced no time warpage other than the usual 60's flashbacks.

I was looking at removing the side panel last night to see behind the switch, but so far no go. Anyone know how to remove the panel with the vent?
