Repurposing the Original showerhead Height Adjuster

Howdy!

I am replacing my showerhead, which may make the original height adjuster surplus. One of the things we are lacking is enough towel rods. It looks like the old height adjuster rod *might* be usable for that purpose.

I have already bypassed several potential dead ends by removing the device from the shower. I have disassembled it to the point that I have a long rod with two short round pieces where it mounted to the wall AND the height adjuster thingamajigger. I need to get one of the end pieces off to remove the thingamajigger. Any body know how those short pieces can be removed from the long rod?

Thanks,

If i am picturing the correct "THINGAMAJIGGER", you may be able to cut it off with a dremel tool. Seems like the end caps should slide off the bar, but if they don't a dremel tool should make easy work of  it.

Roland,

My thingamajigger is the thing that rides up and down the rod to adjust the height of the shower head. It has a round handle that you can loosen to adjust and tighten to keep a preferred height. It has a little short rod on which the shower head sits.

Thanks, for your idea,

Your thingamjigger is NLA.  Please offer it to someone else who has trouble with his holding a set position.
