I ordered a 709 SeeLeveL II™ Tank Monitor System....$242.00 with shipping

....and will attempt the installation myself. I studied the forum threads on the topic and researched it on line.  It looks pretty straight forward. I want to do all the work that I can myself as a way to learn the coach. If I get stuck I can always head to TN RV for assistance.

The most valuable tip I learned was a post here about mounting the sensors temporarily with painters tape to make sure that everything is working before making it permanent.

I'd like to mount the monitor upstairs as oppose to in the basement to make it more convenient to see. Any suggestions as to where the best spot is? I'm thinking that a convenient area would be near the stairwell. Less wire fishing?

Hi Jeff, you will like the SeeLevel.  I am not sure how your coach is laid out.  In ours both waste tanks and the fresh tank were accessable from the bay where the water pump and water manifold are located.  Remove some panels and there they were.  I ran all the wires up through the floor along side where the hot and cold water lines go up into the closets right above and up in the BR drawer cabinet.  I mounted the panel on the closet wall in the bathroom area near the CO detector.  So it is right there, easy to check and keep an eye on while filling.  We check level once or twice a day.  Plenty often.

Did you get extra sensor strips?  I think it comes with three that are about 12" long.  You can use two on each tank in my coach or you can do as many have done, just one per tank.  You want to know when your waste tanks are full so those single strips are mounted close to the top of the tanks.  They will read 100% when they get close to full. They will read 0% until the level reaches the bottom of the sensor.  On the fresh water tank you want to know when it is getting close to empty so this single strip gets located close to the bottom of the tank.  It will read 100% when the water reaches the top of the sensor and 0% when it gets to the bottom.

One extra sensor will give you a full range reading on the fresh tank.  This is nice for filling.  Mine stops about 1-1/2"  before the bottom and and inch or so below the top.  0% and I still have some left. 100% and I am almost full without overflowing.

This is one of the best improvements we made.  Knowing where we are on water and waste acurately is great.

Like Roger, on our 95 300 I mounted two strips per tank. I found that buying two complete systems wasn't much more than buying extra sensors. Anyhow, I mounted one of the monitors on the drawer cabinet to the right of the sink and the other in the wet bay. The wet bay mount allows me to monitor the fresh water when filling which is handy. On our 300 I ran the wires across the tanks to the drivers side, up and along the floor under the closet and washer dryer area, under the frig, behind the kitchen sink and up the side of the drawer cabinet. You can wire tie it as you go for a nice clean installation.

SeeLevel ii systems are on line for about $180. ( Each extra sensor strip adds $66.  And extra display about $95.  An extra display in the et bay for filling would be handy.  I can actually see the end of my fresh tank from that view and with a flashlight it is esy to see the water level.  If we are filling we are paying attention inside.  If we are not moving we fill to about 95%.  If we are traveling any distance we usually run closer to 25%.

Edited to add, I ordered two units. I love the idea of mounting monitors inside the coach and in the wet bay.

I would really insist on the 714 but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on $500 for tank monitoring.  I'm considering buying a sensor and seeing if it's too terribly complicated to interpret.  If it's not I'll just build the monitoring head myself with a touch screen.

I also wanted a 714 but just couldn't justify spending that much on it.  Ended up with an iSeries tank monitor.  Should have replaced the inaccurate Audit system years ago, so nice knowing the actual levels in the tank now.

If you seldom stay without hookups you are wasting your $$$, that could go in the diesel tank.

Great tip, Jor.  Two systems should be cheaper than one plus three strips puls another monitor.

The 709 is good for us.  Some like more functions.

Hooked up or not it is nice to know where we are. We almost never are hooked up to city water except to fill the tank and only connect to sewer if we are ready to dump.  It is how we do it.  You might do it differently.

I cleaned my tanks with vinegar (not sure this did anything) and then recalibrated my Audit. It works perfectly. I think many people condemn a decent system that can work fine.

My audit system works okay but not perfectly.  It does drift over time.  To me that I can't leave it on 24/7 is one problem.  Another is that I cannot calibrate an individual tank at a time.  Wouldn't it make sense to fill the fresh water tank to calibrate that, then drain it into another tank to calibrate that as well without dumping that much water down the drain? 

Also I'd like to be able to measure both my water tanks and the audit only measures the rear.

The issue I have with the audit system is that you have no clue how much there is in any tank. When the audit system indicates 1/2 tank what does it mean? Can be anywhere from 1/2 to 1/4. 3/4 tank can be nearly full. The see level system breaks it down in percentages a much better indicator off now much there is in each tank. Big difference between 3/4 and 95%.
