Suggestions needed for 2 week February trip to SW Florida

We'd like to be on or near the water, full hookups and dog friendly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks All!

I got nothin, but if you go through Orlando and love a good steak, get thee to Charlie's Steakhouse. it's on International drive near the convention center and I've been looking for an excuse to go back to Florida just for that porterhouse.
sorry I don't have any, you know, relevant info for you...

Jeff, our favorite park in Florida is Fort Desoto.  It is a county park south of Tampa.  They have a nice campground and there is a special section for doggie owners.  There is a beautiful beach a few miles past the campground.  They take reservations, but you may have a hard time getting in there in Feb. it is very popular.  If you do a search on rvparksreview.com the campground is located in Tierre Verde, FL.  Just be carful driving thru the park, there are some low hanging limbs.  Their website has pictures of all of campsites.

Most any Florida State Park is nice. Many were private in a previous life so they vary a lot.

If you can get in Fort Desoto as suggested, be sure and visit Skyway Jacks for a breakfast.

Rent Kayaks at Fort Desoto or better yet Weedon Island.

The best place I found to really see the Manatees is the state wildlife park at Homosassa Springs. Well worth the trip. If you want to camp relatively close, try Rock Crusher Canyon.

Depending on what you like and timing, the Florida Flywheelers tractor show in Avon Park. Neat to see all the period buildings and so on besides tractors. We usually spend much of our day in the flea market there. One year I came home with a whole wood shop in the basement and toad.

Tarpon Springs is a fun spot.

More towards the center Mount Dora will keep the gals occupied...

Gulf or Atlantic.  David
Jeff and Sandy,
I had hoped to meet up with you last January at the Tampa Supershow.  My back operation nixed that but hope to see you this year in FL.
David and I are neighbors at RiverBend and if you want to experience an exceptionally fine southwestern FL park and waterway, come see us.
Have Donzi and love to entertain-- will show you what a prime waterway the Caloosahatchee really is!  Much more than just ranging from Gulf salt to mega lake (Okeechobee) fresh to Atlantic salt, it includes the whole spectrum from opulent city yatch basins to mega mansions to grass roots small town Americana to FL grazing herds/prairie to wide expanses of everglades (rivers of grass), with an endless supply of fowl, fin, mammal and hide (gators) to entertain.
At one point, we had eight FT's in the park last winter.  Hope to see more than that next winter.  Boat, motorcycle, pet and people friendliest park in Florida (if not more) and a five star resort as well.  Would love to have more FoFums come see us.

Why (are you stuck on) Florida.. he asked?  (I'm from their BTW.)

I've been all over the good ole USA in the last 40 years as an OO (owner operator) and FL., would be waay down my list..

Have you been along and through the Columbia River area or Northern New Mexico.. for starters?
If you have a passport, Canada is great, up above the Great Lakes (in the Summer.)  pc

PS.
I see you are from Boone, NC  You could camp in your back yard (i wish I was from that area.. it's great.)
Stay away from East Texas this time of year BTW.. ((99)) today in the Bayou City.
