Wow that is an expensive blow out but I suppose it could be worse.

Wow!  2X the cost of a new set of tires all around  :o

I'm glad you posted.  Many times we think "oh, I could get another year out of these tires - they don't have that many miles on them".  Now there's a dollar value example one can use when trying to decide/weighing the risk whether to spring for new rubber or not.

I'm glad no one was hurt and you were calm enough to safely slow and then stop the coach when it happened.  Not everyone is so lucky.

That is what I thought, Michelle.  Tires seem cheap.  Roger

We all think about the date stamp but how many worry about off season storage and weight on the tires? Good chance that ends a tire's life early. Some members may not have comprehensive insurance so a set of jacks or stands are sure a lot cheaper than the body work (or worse).

IN a twisted way, it is about $350 more - My deductible is a thousand, and they paid for the $635 tire that blew ($535 FMCA plus mounting, disposal fee, taxes and stuff = $635.  $1,000 - $650 = $350)  - GEICO says accident "non Chargeable since not my fault.

Now that is the half full view. The PITA of getting it fixed, the sitting on the side of the road and what I might have hit if conditions or speed were different - that will make me change two tires every other year starting in four years - my fronts will never be over 2 years old again. And once I have cycled through, no tires will ever be over 6 years old. I will have one year that I will have two eight year old tires on the rear with this strategy,

FWIW, the left front fender (the fiberglass part that needs to be installed) on the Xtreme estimate was $1,182.68.

Tim,
I've been educated by Bernd's shop to the point I can not think of a reason to return. FOT & MOT fit my needs much better, besides they keep records, have a lounge, are clean, act professional & more cost effective.
