Resontor install

Well I did it, Decided to pull the old heavy muffler off the old girl and put a resonator on the u300. It was not has hard as I thought, the hardest thing was to get the old muffler off. I cut the muffler off at the 90 going into the old muffler. I decided that I would just turn the 5 inch pipe coming off the flex 180 degrees and run a short resonator 16" long and use the tail pipe just cut to length. I took a couple of pictures to give you a idea.

well done Andy. Yes the job is simpler than first thought and getting that old heavy muffler off means more beer can be carried.

Looks good Andy.  That looks like the Donaldson resonator that is in mine- am I right?

That is one of the best upgrades you can do, turbo spools up much quicker and if you are back by the exhaust, you can see how much more air is moving through.  More air, means more power.  Noise is not that much different at idle and inside the coach, cannot notice difference at all.

Have fun and cya down the road.

Andy,

Hope you did some acceleration times before and after. Looks like an easy mod to make. How does the Jake sound? OK to still use in town? Looks good.

Probably takes some load off the turbo pipe. Should be better for the outlet connection at the turbo and less stress on the manifolds. One member had his turbo outlet pipe come loose and got exhaust directly on the engine cover. Burned the rig up.

Reports? Anxious! :D

@Andy I've been waiting for someone else to blaze this trail! Thanks for leading the way. Now how does it sound? I've heard some opinions that this would be very loud. I"m dying to know. Would love to get rid of the giant muffler that's in there now. I too want to know how the jake sounds now.

Hope you're at Quartzite this year so you can do a demo for us! :)

see ya

Thanks for the comments, and it sounds awesome lol.I will have to insulate the hydraulic reservoir as the resonator is a little close.as far as any test nothing yet but with the throttle response I have now am sure it's going to work great. Will be heading out on the road next week and will let you know.
