Dump hose storage, need suggestions.

I realized after installing the water and electric reels that I need a better spot for the dump hose. I prefer that it not be on the same bay with the fresh water hose. If I could do it again I would have had the mounted both reels on a reinforced shelf leaving room underneath for the dump hose. Oops.  :D

There is an old PVC pipe mounted in the battery bay, the last bay on the driver's side. It was used for this purpose but is too narrow to store a hose with Rhino fittings.

Should I just replace the existing pipe with a wider one or is there a better solution?

Thanks all,

Jeff

That might be an option to replace it with a bigger pipe or just get a sealed plastic tub and put it in one of your bays. I just use the standard one that it came with and not the fancy fittings.  I do not set it up until I dump then put it away.

Thanks John, I will only connect when dumping. I'm trying to avoid removing the fittings so a tub probably makes the most sense. I could punch holes in the lid for ventilation.

I rinse the hose well before stowing it. If I sprayed Clorox Cleanup in the hose before a final rinse and storage would this be ok? I realize bleach would probably shorten the life of the hose but I'm okay with this as it isn't expensive to replace.

Thanks.

Hi Jeff,

After redoing my waste valves I got two 10' Valterra waste hoses.  You can use one or connect the two and use both.  Both ends have swivel fittings so the hoses never have a kink in them.

They have something inside other than the slinky sort of thing.  Whatever shape you set they stay that way.  And when you are done the compress to about 42" long and stay that way.  I have a cap set for each so that both ends are sealed.  One fits in the wet bay along with the various fittings.  The other fits just inside the big bay door next to wet bay at the end of joey bed.

These seem to me so far to be the easiest to use of all the different variations I have tried.

If there is room, you might consider mounting a 4" by 4" PVC deck post sleeve or something similar to the bay ceiling.

Jeff,

We have the same sewer hoses you have (two hoses with ends plus the 90 degree).  They fit nicely in a Rubbermade tub (the good quality blue ones-- sorry size is not on the container).  Hoses form into a "U" and stack on top of each other.

I always used a five gallon bucket with a seal type top to store sewer hose and fittings.

This set-up is in our rear roadside bin. Works good, but the ends have to be removed.

Having a Polychute RV Sewer Hose that does not fit in the storage pipe, I use a water and air proof container from ziploc.  Keep in in the storage bay with no oders or leakage.
