Any Updated Thoughts on LED Bulbs?

My reason for this post titled "Any Updated Thoughts on LED Bulbs?" is because I searched the Forum for "1076 bulb." I read through the first five Forum threads this search produced.

We're asking because (1) we recently replaced the two JC10 halogen bulbs over the sink with G-4 5,500 Kelvin LEDs.  (2) As autumn is about to arrive and twilight is coming earlier, we also realized that three 1076 bulbs in our living area (one wall sconce and two lamps) were burned out.  And (3) the sconce in which I replaced the 1076 with a 1076 is now burning too brightly and already consumed the bulb I put in last night.

I realize (1) through (3) above are statements, not questions. <smile> But the questions raised through this process are:

    • First, has anyone found a warm white LED replacement for the JC10s that they like? We're very sensitive to light color, for whatever reason, and the daylight white (5,500 Kelvins) over the sink are just too "blue" for us.  But one warm white LED we tried was far more yellow than the JC10s. Most of the warm whites I see advertised on Amazon and LED-specific sites are 2,800-3,000 Kelvin.  I was hoping to find more like 3,500 — but I'm only guessing based on some quick research on lighting CCT (correlated color temperature).  Some real life experience would be welcomed!
    • Second, does anyone have a similar experience with wall sconces in their coach? I read the long previous thread about swing-arm lamps, but didn't see (or missed) anything related to our problem.  I realize the bulb that burned out in 24 hours could simply have a bad bulb. I replaced it.  But the new one is burning much more brightly than the sconce on the opposite wall.  Does that suggest a problem with the fixture itself and has anyone run into this?

Actually, umm, err — yes!  It WAS an apricot and orange scone — or maybe an apricot scone?  Or could it have been an orange scone?  But, umm, I'm sure it was one you made and I've totally run out.  Could you send a C.A.R.E. package??

I actually have a direct relationship with a manufacturer in China.  I developed a little hobby of selling 110 volt bulbs for vintage (and modern) sewing machines.

They have the low voltage as well, and I have replaced all of my basement compartment halogens with little round bulbs, the closet bulbs with flat LEDs, and the swingarm bulbs with good bulbs that have silicon covers, not the cheapies that have exposed chips.  Not sure how to enter a picture here.  Send me an email if you'd like more info.  They are quite reasonable, all three types.

I've posted these before. We have used these to replace all of the BA15d 1076 bulbs.  Warm white for us.

And these in warm white in the bathroom and bedroom vanity lights.  Not sure if yours are like ours.

We have had zero Eversale brand bulbs fail.

All of the ceiling lights and the lights over the sink have been replaced by the 3" or 4.5" ITC Radiance spring mounted lights.  Prices on these vary at amazon depending on supply.  I paid significantly less than they are now.  2-4.5" over the sink, 1-4.5" in the kitchen cabinet bottom.  Amazing improvement.

How about a LED alternative for the dock lights? They use a ton of juice and trip a breaker after a minute or two. I'm moving the air cleaner inlet up and toward the rear and would like to make a true 90 degree turn and then up to an inlet after it runs across the bottom of the raidiator (side radiator). The dock light is in the way as it is now. Aircraft landing light LEDs are nice and bright but way too expensive. Ideas?

I suspect LED backup lights would work.  The ones on our Born Free appear to be about the same size as the FT docking lights.

Thanks Christine & Brad, and Roger & Susan.  Much appreciated!  Will try ALL.  We all see (or "feel"?) light color differently.  Eager to see what works for Susan & me.

Good addition, too, to the thread — re: LED alternative to docking lights.  Have no need to tackle that yet, but am very interested in the suggestions, as that will likely go on the to-do list when we are traveling more frequently / docked somewhere less consistently.

I finally found a picture of the G4 replacement bulbs, as well as re-discovering how to post here. 

There are 2 kinds of G4 bulbs that I chose to look at.  One is flat with 12 large LED squares (1.2 watts) and the other is round and silicon encased.  It looks like a little corn cob with 48 small LEDs (2 watts).  Either bulb is quite a bit less than the 10 watt halogens and a LOT cooler.  No melty fixture covers with these.

I chose the flat ones in a warm-white for my three closet lights, and I chose the round ones in Cool-white for use in the bays.  I have a total of 9 bay lights (including the one hidden up in the generator area) and 3 closet lights (one in the shirt closet over the washer/dryer, and one in each of the 2 hanging closets in the bedroom).

Anyway, here are pictures of the bulbs, and I can include ordering these bulbs with my large sewing machine bulb purchases if there is interest here and that will keep the prices down.  For example, I can sell a package of 10 of the "corn cob" 48 LED bulbs and 4 of the flat 12 LED bulbs, shipped to you via priority mail, for $50.   
I used 72 LED bulbs (3.0 watts) for each of the 5 swingarm lamps (10 bulbs - $60).  Personally, I now only use 1 per fixture and it seems sufficient to me.  It is the silicon-encased bulb on the bottom in the comparison picture.

That little flat "bulb" does a fine job in the closet of my 2002 U270.
