HWH Service

We had our service appointment at HWH yesterday scheduled 6 weeks ago.  I was concerned we'd wasted the trip after they only found a small leak at a solenoid and a fitting leak they left for FT.  When I complained about the aux compressor not being able to keep the back end up they checked its pressure.  It could only put out 85psi instead of 125.  $834 later we left, only to find our camera monitor power gone.  I don't know what the connection could be, but I picked up another power lead to get out of the parking lot.  More investigation needed.

Brett

My experience there was not up to my expectations.

My complaint was that over a few days time the right rear would sag. They drove the rig onto the rack and assigned a guy to chase air leaks. He found seven. Said they were all minute and only two were associated with their equipment. He marked all with zip ties. He fixed those two by unscrewing and adding teflon tape. He recommended I find a truck facility to fix the others. Same sagging  issue after I left.

Subsequently, I found a truck repair facility that fixed the leaks. As HWH indicated the zip tied leaks were all minute. However, this guy found another significant leak, a fitting on the HWH six pack. It was split and leaking quite a bit of air. With that fitting fixed my system is holding.

One other negative. The place is an absolute mess.

Sorry to hear about your less than perfect experience at HWH. We haven't been there, but it is on the list! I did deal with their tech support on the phone, and in spite of having to wait a few days for call backs, Frank (the guy I worked with) was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our problem was that the coach wouldn't go into travel mode and the master warning light wasn't lit. The HWH trouble shooting guide indicates that with those symptoms, the control box must be replaced! We used the coach several times in this condition with me eyeballing the ride height before starting out. Frank told me that it should maintain that setting providing leaks weren't severe enough to make it settle. I was a little freaked out not knowing if it would stay at the height I put it at under way, but it did.
The level system was unaffected by the travel mode issue. Once Frank figured out that I am an adventurous sort and knew my way around the basics of using multimeter, he had some very good trouble shooting suggestions. Unfortunately, our problem ended up being a control box as I originally feared. The estimate for repairs maxed out at a bit under a thousand dollars, though it might have been less than a hundred. After taking mine apart and looking at all the jumper wires used instead of proper circuit traces on our unit, I asked Frank if the new one would have updated boards etc. He assured me that a new one (which would have to be built because they are not stocked), would have any and allpdatet components from that series. So I ordered a new one that came to about $1400. However, by sending the old one back, I got a check for $412 so my net cost was just under a thousand for a new control box and the circuit boards looked much less "provisional" than the old one. Considering the worst case scenario costing about the same to repair the old one, I was happy.

I too had occasion to send in my control box. Pretty quick turnaround and inexpensive as well. Good as new. On the other hand, I ordered new solenoid o-rings (before I decided to go to their facility) and they sent me the wrong ones.
