DONALDSON FILTERS

To all you Ebayers out there,I just got an order from "carlsjewels" carl currently has many donaldson filters less than half price,
thought I would pass the info on.

John,

Just verify that he did not buy old stock from another dealer.  Would be poor economics to buy 5+ year old air filters and end up dusting the engine.

Again, I know nothing about this company/ but filters ARE different than hard parts in terms of "viable life".

The ones I got were 2 trans filter kits , new in box and in plastic,also some coolant filters still in plastic,looked fairly new to me.
Just ordered a air filter and some fuel filters.

I believe Brett's concern is the age of the filters since they were manufactured - the adhesives used in the do age out and can fail in just a couple of years.  As we've seen in other threads, having an air filter fail can be catastrophic(ally expensive).  That's why one should make sure filters are "fresh" and not "New, old stock".

I have one regular paper Donaldson's here and installed one of the two "BLUE" filters last week.

Not heard of adhesive failing?

Nor do they seem to be dated anywhere on them?

Is it just that as rv'ers versus OTR truckers that are time in use is so long that they can fail?

Time or high humidity was a contributing issue?

Water damage in a warehouse is of course possible.

I bought a "brand new" turbo one time; turned out (after a lot of head scratching) it had sat on the shelf too long and the seals were shot. I had the whole top end of the Isuzu serviced before I realized it was THE NEW TURBO!  >:D
