Awning Removal

I am contemplating removing my factory ZippDee awning and was checking to see if any of you have done that also.  After two separate mystery deployments, ripped fabric, and the stupid air operation, I am ready to get rid of it and plan to install a totally manual or electric awning.
?'s:
Can two men remove it?
How heavy is it?
Will I need a fork truck or scaffolding to get it done?
Recommendations for a new one: manual or electrical
Any advice is appreciated.

I am watching this thread like a hawk.  WE spent a good amount of time at ZipDee this summer ... and Jimmy was all over our awning replacing most of the brains and lots of the gizmos.  It STILL does not operate properly.  Frustrated!!!  I have thrown too much money at this shite thing.I want a good ol' manual.

Yes 2 men can. Tie a rope at both ends then throw  the other ends over top of coach and fasten to something solid. Remove arms and then all the screws along top of awning It can be lowered with the ropes and use some wood  10' long to stop it scratching the paint etc. Then take off the aluminum trim that was screwed to roof and put a sealant along it and screw it back on--or-- just cut it apart if you want to. See if Extreme has a manual one for sale as they used to have lots.

Did you contact Zip-Dee or go on there web site. There are lots of helpful hints on the site. Also try youtube. Someone may have done it and recorded it. I recently left mine down during a heavy rain, bent the tube. I went to the zip-dee site and followed there directions and straightened my tube as good as new. Issues like winding and replacing parts are also covered.
