Fluttering Trans Temp guage

My trans temp guage always stays at just below 200. While traveling in some heavy rain the guage just started going bananas. Finally it pinned at 400. Then it dropped to nothing. Does anyone know where the trans temp sensor is located and also where the ground might be. I think the guage is ok, so I'm thinking bad sensor or ground and possibly the connection at the sensor. I'm open to ideas.

As I remember, look low on the drive shaft ene of the transmission for a single wire to the sensor, just a push on conecto.

Here is a link to a previous thread that deals with the same problem and pics of what you are looking for.

Thanks Pam for a couple hundred miles it was at 400 then the needle was jumping up and down and finally sat at 100. The pictures where great. I think cleaning and reapplying connector will do it,

I seem to remember mine on the front of the trans near the oil pan. A wiring harness hooking to it.
I pulled mine off  climbing a dirt mound. It reacted the same as you state yours is acting, except it was wildly erratic but never pegged at a temp.
Putting the wires back on the right post solved the problem.

Clean the contacts with a spray-on electronics cleaner and apply a small dab of dielectric grease to the contacts before reassembling.

CorrosionX will also do the job of the dielectric grease.  Some use spray-on Brake Cleaner as a cleaner and degreaser. Dries quickly without residue.

Raised the passenger side of the rv today and found my sensor wire not connected. The pictures I received were perfect. The suggestions of brake cleaner and dielectric grease worked perfected. This whole repair took 10 minutes. If it wasn't for all of your help, I would still be looking. Thank you everyone.
