My Story about Foretravels & Lazy Daze

Hello Foretravel People.  I joined this forum a few years ago and I've regularly lurked about the place.  In my judgment, it must be one of the most helpful and well behaved corners of the Internet.  At any rate, we have spent more than a year helping a relative with serious health and financial problems.  Finally, we think that our relative has settled down in a safe place that provides her great care.

In May-June 2015, we started another search for our first motor home.  After hours and countless hours (weeks and weeks) of reading, looking, studying, and so forth, we focused our search on Lazy Daze.  We knew that finding a LD would be like finding hen's teeth.  The good folks over at the "Life with a Lazy Daze RV" (Yahoo group) were very supportive and helpful during our search.

In late August 2015, we heard about a 2009 Mid-bath Lazy Daze for sale about 600 miles away from home. After visiting with the owners, we packed a rental car and made the trip and found a wonderfully equipped and much loved Lazy Daze.

After the purchase, we made a 14 day "shakedown cruise" and arrived back home in one piece.  In the last 10 weeks or so, we've made 4-5 short trips to area State Parks in Oklahoma and around Dallas-Fort Worth.  We're very pleased with the Lazy Daze and we consider it the Foretravel of Class C motorhomes.  As you probably know, LD owners are about as fanatical about their RV's as are FT owners!  The LD Forum has had a few owners sell their LD to buy a FT.  And we have learned about a couple of FT owners who downsized to a LD.  At any rate, I continue to learn so much by lurking about this neighborhood, which helps me be a better LD owner.

And that's our story!

Hello Ed (Traxless),

Good to see you posting here again!  We are glad to hear you have found a RV that suits your needs and meets your requirements.  I don't think anyone on the Forum will argue with the excellent reputation held by Lazy Daze.  We looked at several examples during our "search" phase, and I was always impressed with the quality construction, and the enthusiasm of the owners for the product.

I hope you will stick around this Forum and chime in once in a while.  Lessons learned in any type or brand of RV can be of value to all members, and we always enjoy hearing about road trip adventures from other RV owners.  Keep us posted on your favorite destinations!

In case you haven't already visited them, I am adding links to 2 of our favorite COE parks in Texas:  Holiday & Hanks Creek.  They are both really nice parks, with excellent facilities and enjoyable surroundings (especially now that the lakes are back up).

Also, (if you qualify) be sure to pick up a America The Beautiful Senior Pass.  Gets you half off the camping fees at most federal parks.  We bought ours at the Forestry Service office in Lufkin, TX.  (Beautiful office and building grounds, by the way)

Congrats on your purchase, and good luck in your travels!

Glad you were able to find the Lazy Daze you wanted. They have always had an outstanding reputation. If we ever have the need to downsize then a Lazy Daze would be one we would have on our list for consideration.

Thank you for your kind remarks and warm welcome.  We've had just a wonderful few months with our LD and we on the road 3-4 days every two (2) weeks for the last 2 months.  We've found several wonderful Texas State Parks in East Texas among the tall pines.  We're also fond of  Central and Eastern Oklahoma.  In fact, we headed to Robber's Cove in OK in 2 weeks and really enjoyed Lake Murray State Park last month.  Our local travel is in preparation for a six (6) weeks trip in May-June 2016 to points north.

I'll be the first to admit to some rookie mistakes, which I can't share publicly for fear of unrelenting abuse!  Fortunately, we didn't break anything or hurt anyone.  OK ... here's one lesson we've learned.  Always, always have any EXIT especially with a vehicle in tow.  I'm now an expert on that rookie mistake.  My other rookie mistakes will go to the grave with me.

DW has bonded with our LD and especially the floor plan.  Whoever said that a good plan can make or break the deal certainly knew what they were talking about.  She is comfortable driving the coach with a tow vehicle, hooking up water, electricity, and sewer.  I'm finding that the more she learns, the happier "we" are with our RV adventure decision.  Finally, we have learned that our grandchildren absolutely love a motorhome and especially the cabover space.  And this last lesson was worth the price of admission.

And so it goes.

Welcome and enjoy your new rv.  It is a slippy slope, enjoy the ride.

Chuck might have meant to say, if you are 62, you can buy the pass, for free entry, and often half price camping rates.

Tiz a slippery slope for sure.  And sadly, I am way past 62 years on planet Earth.  So we've taken advantage of both those suggested passes.  And as a veteran, I get 10% off from Lowes and Home Depot, which are two (2) of my favorite stores.  Lately, DW has formed a new relationship with The Container Store.  I should have bought stock in that company the day we purchased our Lazy Daze.  And so it goes.

P.S.
Dang slippery slope!
