Fuel lines

Has anyone replaced the fuel lines to the Aqua Hot and Generator on a 1999 40 ft. u320? I am just now getting to some of the problems on the coach I purchased and the A.H. line is pulling air and the generator line has been spliced near where the lines go into the center of the coach near the fuel tank compartment. I used search and found that all coaches are not the same as some had smaller fuel tanks you could access by removing the propane tank. With this one there is no access through that area. I am about to try to pull the tank but don't know if there is enough slack in the fuel lines to do that. Foretravel must have plumbed the fuel lines before putting the body on the coach.
Thanks for any information that might be available

Many have.  Lots of stories in the Forum archives.  Try searching for "Generator fuel line replacement yyyy Unnn" and see what pops up and then look for your year yyyy and model Unnn.

If you add your coach information into your signature then folks can reply to your year specifically.  Something like 2001 U320 3610 #5879

That found it! Not a very good outcome. Either cut a hole in the floor or remove the tank. I will  take the remove the tank option.
Thanks for the help

There will be enough slack in the old fuel lines to pull the tank out, so long as you disconnect them as soon as they are exposed.  Foretravel laid the slack up on top of the tank.

I have a 295 and cut a hole in floor (easy to do) right where they are and then put the panel back and glued and screwed it in place. I wanted to see if mine were cracked but they were ok thank goodness. I had carpet in LVG room when I did that so simple.

The fuel tank is out! My 1999 u320 did not have enough slack to get to them with a wrench when the tank was being pushed to the passenger side. I had to use a 2 ft. extension with a crows foot to unhook the lines. It would have been impossible to reinstall them without changing them and adding 2 & 3 ft., to the hoses. I will post pics and the lengths and sizes as I will use the old hoses to pull the new ones in. There was no mention in the posts I read about fuel line replacement of the drain plug which protrudes into a recessed hole in the bottom of the fuel tank bay. This must be removed to slide the tank out. The hoses were severely cracked.

FT removed my tank out the driver's side.  There was enough slack to detach hoses as soon as they were reachable.

I am not sure this will help but look at my posts on fuel line replacement

First step to fuel line replacement (Removing tank covers)

There is also a second step and a third step

Jason

Wish I had read the second and third steps as it may have helped. The tank is completely out of the bay at this time and tomorrow I will buy 35 ft. each of the engine fuel line and 20 ft. each of the generator and Aqua-hot fuel lines., I am buying a little extra so I can use the old lines to pull the new ones through. when done I will post the exact length and sizes and pics of the project.. Your pic here is exactly what my tank looks like.

I think you pulled the tank to the opposite side that I've seen anybody else pull it to.  Everybody seems to pull it out to the driver's side, on mine all the return fittings were on driver's side along with gen supply.

The bottom drain also surprised me until I figured out what it was causing everything to hang up.  I mentioned it a bit here (too late now).

The fuel tank is back in. Jarrett posted many pics which helped a lot. If you search "fuel line replacement" and read his posts there are three steps in different posts. All I can add is when you drill out the grill to get to the fuel return line, the line is tie wrapped to the line from the fuel pump and you have to disconnect it from the pump to get the return line out. At that point it would be advisable to change that line also as the labor is already done. This is only for a 1999 40 ft. u320 other lengths and years and models are different. It takes 35 ft. of 5/8 line 40 ft. of 1/2 line and 60ft. of 3/8 line to do all the fuel lines for the engine, Aqua-Hot and generator. I am showing some of the pics of the job.

Good to hear it went well for you.  It is a tough job and can not be hurried.  My most difficult part of the job was removing and reinstalling the tank as it was so tight.

Goodyear. very expensive 5/8 was $6.60 per ft. 1/2 was $5.64 per ft. and 3/8 was $4.52 per ft. It has 300 psi rating and much better construction than the original Airquip.
