Foretravel Inspection

I am looking to purchase a late 90's foretravel. I know you take your chances with a purchase, but how do I get a coach inspected? Are there qualified company's or individuals that do inspections?

Kathy, where are you located? If in south or central or east TX may be a lot easier to find someone but can be done in other spots as well. Also where will you be looking at coaches?

Search the forum using the search button for PDI inspections - also look for purchase inspection

Please post where the coach is located - if you have one in mind

Brett Wolfe is the goods if you are close enough to use him

This forum has a very good starting point on what to look for yourself (although it won't replace an inspector, especially Brett)

We have Papa Brett's '93, it would be worth a trip to Texas have the coach inspected before putting her on the market.

Brett wasn't available when we found our coach, and I'd been looking for 2 years and didn't want to miss out.  So, I used the "50 Things" list that Michelle posted above, talked to Brett who was very helpful, and "inspected" the coach myself.  Then, Brett came and did a formal inspection after the fact - I guess you could call it a PDI - "post delivery inspection".  That gave me a good list of things to tend to, and luckily not a very long list and it has worked out fine.

Just another option for you to consider, if Brett is not available at this time and you can't find another inspector.

Best of luck,

I did the same process as Chris and it worked fine. Had a few post inspection issues come up since but most if not all fit in the aging coach category. Actually I find that as I get up in coach years many of my systems need more attention than previously.

Not sure where the coach is located but if you are near NAC it might be good to have Bernd check the major mechanicals - good peace of mind  for the high dollar stuff.

Thank you everyone for the great replys! I don't have a coach in mind, but trying to figure out  how to approach  this when I do. Finding the right coach in texas would certainly make things easier.:)

Texas is certainly the prime location if looking for a Foretravel. Probably as many for sale in Texas alone as in the whole rest of the country.

Tell us more about what you are looking for and we may be able to point you to a coach for sale, or more likely a place that specializes in that kind of coach/price range coach.

Those were some very good years for Foretravels.

Obviously, check MOT's website-- they are the largest in the use Foretravels of that vintage.

Occasionally Foretravel Factory has one of that vintage.

Other than that, the "usual suspects" such as Craigslist, google each year of Foretravel, etc.

Good hunting.

How do I get in touch with Brett?  Thanks!

I never been to MOT, I guess they are one of more trustworthy dealers for those used FTs?

He's usually around, maybe taking a well-earned day off. You could PM him. From what I understand, MOT is right up there. p.s., their website is addictive!  Happy holidays, M

I agreed totally.  Brett is awesome as he helped inspected two FTs at MOT yesterday.  His wife Dianne is equally awesome, a great team.  Worth every penny then some.  Learned so much about those FT coaches.

1996 U295, way too much work, not worth.  (Not really taken care of unlike what web ads said.)
1999 U270, not bad, still needs work. Workable.  Nice live able space interior.
