Thermal Exhaust System Wrap

I've had good luck with this product with my Hans and the 3 cyl.  Just wondering if anyone has made the leap to covering up the manifold, turbo and down pipe and if so how much cooler the BR was after the install?  pc

I'm curious - where did you get your turbo wrap material and what did it cost?

BST Thermal products.  It came from the PO of the Hans.. sos?

I'd guess the turbo, manifold cover and DP were in the region of $450 or less.  The Kit for an M11 is aprox $535.

If you can get them to sell the material, good question?  I did not notice an numbers for material alone.
Dig around the web, seems there are several sources, which one is the manf.,
is the $64 question like gen set mounts.

Whatever the cost, getting the engine compartment cooled off would be worth it.  pc

for diy wrapping of the pipe there are lots of sources most speed shops sell it as header wrap and withstands the heat a race car engine generates.  For the turbo and manifold pre-made stuff is much easier to install.

I'm surprised to hear someone have issues with BR heat.  I was astounded after buying the Foretravel that the engine heat really isn't very bad at all.  The turbo/exhaust side of the bed is ever so slightly warmer but unless it is humid in the 80's we still sleep comfortably after driving 8-12 hours.

This compared to our gas winnebago which would roast for hours after a drive (and roast you while you were driving)

After removing the muffler and installing the resonator, and wrapping it, the BR is essentially not heated.  I guess a little warmth but even in summer driving and not running the AC in the BR while driving, virtually no heat to overcome in the BR when park.

Very nice versus the original muffler.

Wonder if anyone wanted to go back to the original muffler after having the resonator due to heat in bedroom.
 I strongly agree with Mike' point.

We haven't noticed any heat problem with a "naked" resonator.  If you live in humid climate, exhaust wrap can absorb (retain) moisture and rust components.  (Don't ask me about the $500 set of Mickey Thompson headers I ruined in a year - sore point)
