Gaggenau Question

The 2-burner Gaggenau in our rig works fine but the lowest setting on either burner seems rather high.

It's like the knob should be able to turn further, but at it's lowest setting it can boil water I think.

Anyone else had this problem?.

Yes both burners put out a alot of btu's.

Even the small one on low.

No idea if there is an internal adjustment

Seems there are three different gas nozzles for the stovetop.

One for natural gas.  Two different ones for different pressure propane systems.

The bottled gas ones are rated for 27-35 mbar and the other is for 50mbar whatever that is.

Natural gas is 20mbar.

Wanna bet the unit has natural gas nozzles?

Supposed to be 6500 btu and 9500. 

Both seem to a lot more btu's than that.

Glad you brought it up. 

Will order the ones designed for the 50 I think.

I guess I need to know what millibar regulator I have, then re-jet accordinly.

My wife complained about the same thing with our old Foretravel but found out she could turn it between high and off and get a lower flame.

I just ordered the 50's.

Not enough difference from 20 to 29-35 for my purposes.  If I have the 419830 jets designed for the 50mbar and its too little heat then I might be able to get the ones in between. 

If you look at the gaggenau website pictures they show the two burner next to a large single burner that is on.

Much smaller flame in the picture it seems to me.

The only difference between the natural gas and LP gas variants of the Gaggenau cook tops is the settings on the regulator.  There are no changes to jets.  The change process depends on the regulator brand. 

The manual for the current version (rectangular grate) is attached.

The support literature shows three different sized brass orifices labeled gas or two for bottles gas depending on pressure

Hi Travelingman,

Try turning the knob clockwise to less than the low emblem setting (almost to off position) and see if the flame goes down even further.

I find ours to be very strong as well.  I just tried to turn it between high and off and it was a no go, I couldn't get a flame any lower htan the normal low setting.  Also I can't turn ours clockwise past the off stop.  The flame isn't very large but it sure is powerful.  Perfectly sized for a giant stock pot ;)

Hi Mark,

Perhaps your regulator is shot/not adjusted and you are getting more than 11 column inches of propane. You would think your refrigerator would not work well either.

Our refrigerator works perfectly actually (on propane when we use it on propane).  Looking at the flame size, height and color it would appear to me that the stove is functioning perfectly.  In fact I have no real trouble doing anything on it other than simmering.  It's just strong when it comes to that, not strong enough when I need a pot of water to boil ;)

On our 2001 the cook top has another regulator under the cook top.  Remove the drawers to see it.  Yours may be different.

I got lucky with mine and am able to turn the flame down to almost nothing.
Quick fix!  Wish everything could be that simple.
