O'Reilly's 8D AGM

I need to pull the trigger on some new coach batteries. Anyone with any experiences or knowledge of the O'Reilly AGM battery?

There have been several forum posts on the subject not long ago., a search over the past 180 days should bring up them up. I'm about to order three of them from their website myself. BTW the part number is "AGM8D"

We bought ours a couple of years ago. Ordered them and had them delivered to the store. Took the coach down to the store and a couple of strong, young guys switched the batteries out very quickly. Cost was about $450 each, as I recall. So far they are working just fine.

They are Deka batteries, by East Penn Manufacturing.

Thanks for the responses guys. The Deka seems to be rated well for the price. I imagine they will do just fine.

I have bought 5 of them... 4 for the house and 1 for the chassis. They are performing well so far... Mostly staying above 80% charge for the house, not sure about the chassis.

I got 3 of them for the house 18 mos ago, seem to be doing just fine. Just make sure you tell the store you want manf dates to be within a month or 2 of each other. When I went to pick mine up one was over a year old with about an inch of dust on it and 12.3 v no load voltage.

I replaced the 3 house batteries 1 year ago with those batteries and so far great

You listed the part number as. AGM8D but when I contacted O'Reilly they gave me a price of 199.00 gotta think either the number is incorrect or they priced the wrong battery

We have purchased 4 of these batteries from O'Reillys. They carry a number of 8D size batteries. I would ask them to verify that the one that you wish to purchase is made by East Penn Mfg. The Deka/East Penn Mfg battery you wish to purchase will look like this - Open link below. Also complete specs. to match.

Deka 8A8D (8A8DM) AGM Battery

I have had problems finding the exact one on their web site and have had to call the local store to find it, verify the specs, and purchase. The local store often does not carry them in stock so they may need to be delivered to your local store. We ordered a couple in Butte, MT and had them delivered to Big Fork, MT a week later.

AGM8D Is O'Reilly's part number for these batteries. The people behind the parts counter generally don't have a clue about these batteries. Here is a link;

We use them to start our M11 and also as house batteries.

They are also used in solar applications.

Note: Oreillys's puts their own identification decal on theirs so it doesn't say "Intimadator". It's the same battery though.

That is where the specs come in... Also, some sleuthing turns up the East Penn and Deka origin, where the same battery, IMHO, is marketed as a deep cycle application. There is a lot of conflicting opinion on this topic, and I am just giving my assessment of the data, which I was willing to stake my money on (about $2K's worth, plus another $450 for one which I use as a start battery).

Hooked to a power pedestal always the AGM's are great. If you dry camp alot the double cycle life of the gels might be worth the extra money

I stuck with the gel battery made by the same people. My house batteries were $1200 installed. I use red tops on the engine side.

Coach & chassis batteries have been ordered. Went with 3 O'Rielly AGM8D's. The nice kid at O'Reilly said Wow those are expensive and gave me a bit of a break and reduced them from $449.99 Ea. to $419 Ea.

Result.

Went with 3 Optima red tops for the chassis.
