Generator antifreeze

What antifreeze does a Powertech izuzu diesel gen require?  Anything special.  Had mine overheat and shut off a few minutes ago and not sure why.  After it cools off I need to add antifreeze and restart it to see what happenned.

I think I have regular shell zone 50/50 here.

Bob,
My 99 came with the Texaco extended life (red).  Shell Rotella Extended life is a direct replacement.

You need to make sure a circuit breaker hasn't tripped.  When you restart, check that the fan is blowing.  If it isn't, the generator isn't making A/C, in which case the fan won't work and the generator will quickly overheat.

Also check the fan belt behind the cover on the driver side. This belt disintegrated on mine to just a thread so water pump was not pumping any water. Genset  would stop after a few minutes and dump some antifreeze on the ground (over heated).
Replaced belt with Gater 7365, which was difficult to install because it was a little too short.

Following up on Wyatt's experience, on ours (isuzu 8 kw), the belt was loose (pain to tighten it), and had gotten pretty worn, so not much fan/water pump drive.    You might also want to check the shroud to see that it's not loose and cutting into the upper radiator hose.

Ours was, but I caught it before a leak.

Excellent help guys.  Thanks.

The 97 has a remote radiator with a 110 volt fan.

Breaker(s were replaced and had not opened .

That means I think I have an intermittent to the fan.  I think I remember there is a relay in the front left compartment?

Probably needs the wiring and relay checked.  I don't know why such a fine piece of technology should need service after only 19 years of careful abuse. Haha.
