PTS 10KSI End Bearing

So, I'm removing and adding new sound/thermal insulation on the quiet box of my generator, looking around I see that the generator end bearing looks a bit unhappy. It looks like it has shed a tear or two.

Some generator manuals suggest that this inspection be performed once every year. This was my first inspection in the five years I have owned it. In my defense, my owners manual only requires inspection at 3,000 hours. Okay, I didn't read that either until after the fact that my generator has over 3K hours.

Please take a look at this end bearing and see what you think.

Slainte!

It is hard to tell just by looking what condition a bearing is in but with that many hrs. I would change it out while the generator is out. It isn't that big of a job to get the bearing off and if you go to some bearing company like Motion Ind. the cost will be minimal, if the bearing does fail the cost will be $$$$.

We learned that if our end bearing fails it will likely take out our generator and cost thousands.
We would like to find a recommended northwest Phoenix Arizona shop to have them replace our generator end bearing.
Anyone know of a repair facility?

Cummins/Onan used to be on 17th and mc dowell.  Maybe they will work on a Powertech?

contact Powertech and have them direct you to a service facility.  You had mine done at a bit over5000 hours at MOT.  It was not a hard job but you have to pull the generator out of the quiet box.

Barry and Cindy, this may be a few miles extra but Rocky Mtn Cummins in Avondale and I 10 are certified Gen people 623-474-2600.  This was shop I was at and spoke to Gen guy and he seemed to have lots of experience. Big facility with rv parking and power.
