Fixing shades?

I saw a post on here the other day of someone replacing all of their day/night shades with new custom roll down shades and, though those sound glorious, they aren't really in our budget...yet...lol.  My question for you guys is, has anyone here been able to repair their day/night shades when the strings fray and eventually snap?  We have one shade that is still working even though two strings have already snapped, but it is on it's last leg and wont last much longer.  I need to fix it, if that's possible.  And because we are full timing, these shades get used ALL THE TIME, so I'm sure the others are not far behind the one that is already failing.  So, has anyone fixed theirs and do you have any tips?

Yes, the strings in the blinds can be repaired. I've repaired some of the blinds in our coach. Do an Internet search for "rv shade repair parts" to find repair supplies.

Try to repair the blind before the string breaks. I was able to fuse a new string to the old string with a small flame. That allowed me to use the old string to pull the new string through the proper path.

There are Youtube videos that demonstrate the repair of RV shades.

Fifteen years ago, we discovered a nice lady who re-strung day/night shades in Salem, OR. She re-strung all of ours (SOB) as they failed in a three year period, at a very reasonable rate. All of the re-strung shades held up much better than OEM shades.

I did a quick web search and found Patty still stringing along in OR at Welcome | RV Shade Repair | Full Service National RV Shade Repair Service in...

She still offers same-day service and couldn't be more professional. 503-949-5775.
I spoke with her and asked if I could share her info with our forum. Paul
