A/C compressor - OEM Sanden or?

I am going to replace the original Sanden A/C compressor, its tired. Any advice or experience with a new NAPA Temp compressor?
I believe they are manufactured in Texas by 4 Seasons. About the same $$ as the Sanden replacement if ordered online. I would prefer to deal locally but not if these are apples vs oranges.

Advice appreciated

I bought a new Sanden from Truckerac.com Great price fast service. A lot better price than our NAPA. Might also get extra sanden oil also, as our system take more oil. This was the cause of my failure, PO had one installed with not enough oil. I also converted the dyer to a Caterpillar with quick disconnects for service without losing R134A. Remember to clean out the system.

I'm not familiar with the "NAPA Temp" compressor, but I would stay away from any compressor manufactured by 4 Seasons. They are frequently nicknamed "4 Seizens" (and I suspect with good reason because of failure rates).

I personally would go with a new Sanden unit.

The best place to ask for air conditioning information is at a dedicated A/C forum. A very good source of information is the forum at Automotive Air Conditioning Bulletin Board • View forum - A/C Questions and... . I have received help in the past from one of their members who posts as "Nacho." Another good forum is Automotive AC Information Forum - Automotive AC Information Forum - ACKITS.COM .

Always buy NEW OEM A/C compressors. You'll regret purchasing anything else, and the price is usually not that much more expensive if you shop around.

@FourTravelers,

Can you post the part number for your compressor. I'm about to do this and I'm pretty sure all the 90's coaches used the same compressor. I will verify before I order but want to do some shopping around.

Thanks

You're welcome. I should also have mentioned that it's a good idea to replace the receiver/dryer any time the system is opened. It's relatively inexpensive to replace, and it can be considered as "insurance" to make sure the system remains clean and dry.

Ken,
What I think was the original compressor on our 95 U280, was a Sanden #4509 which as luck would have it, are no longer available. According to what I have read and Chris @ Trucker's AC, it was replaced by the model 4510, which was replaced by the current Model #4664. Not sure if there any measurable differences as they look identical in the photos.
The stock number for TruckersAC is #03-3470 (their number)

From NAPA - filter/dryer - #208317,
                      expansion valve -#207376
                      PAG100 oil -#801652
hope this helps...............

That's good news, the old 4509 has "made in the USA" on it also. I'll keep it for an anchor, ;D

@kenhat

If you can see the top of the compressor on your engine, there should be a metal tag with brand, type, model number, etc.

I wonder Sanden model # 4664 is also good and same for a 2003/295 with Cummins ISL400.
is this the one Sanden 4664 Kenworth LE1620 Mack 206RD413M  ?

Two years ago a shop in Fort Worth, TX installed a APE brand (local auto parts)  now clutch and/or pulley is shut. Looks like they removed the OEM and just matched it. Now I have no information part number etc for the original Compressor.  I usually don't let something like this get by me but this one did  I thought Industrial Power in Fort Worth was replacing it with same brand they removed.
Thank you,
