1991 U300 Bulkhead Check

Note: This post only applies to Foretravel coaches with the Foretravel-built chassis

I re-checked and took pictures of my bulkheads a while ago, and realized I hadn't posted them.

The bulkheads are where the cargo bay "floor" frame section connects with the Foretravel main chassis framework - just behind the front axle and just in front of the rear axle.

These joints should be checked periodically, they can begin to rust and separate if the coach has been exposed to road salt, or if there has been an undetected water leak somewhere in the cargo bay. Always check this area on a prospective coach before purchase.

My 25 year old bulkheads look good, a result of the coach living in Florida for most of it's life, and no cargo bay water leaks. The outer fiberglass skin was cut a little short in a couple of places, and there is one missing bolt, all remaining bolts were tight.

Several forum members have posted how to repair a separated bulkhead.
