Large FT Recliner: How Remove?

A question:  we want to put a desk in the open space where we currently have a large, Villa/FT recliner.  How is it possible to remove this large chair from the coach?

Granted, Susan & I are "spatially challenged" — but it looks to me as if it would be impossible to get over the passenger seat and out the door?  Are the large recliners easily disassembled (like a residential recliner we bought for my sister)?  Also, any interest in the recliner?  We'll be in Texas for the summer.

Thanks, as always, to the wonderful Forum for any guidance.

The recliners come apart where the base of the back slides into the bottom seat. Look for little locking levers along the chair back parts that slide onto the chair bottom. This is behind the bottom flap in the rear of the seat.

This is the way my 1999 came I was thinking of putting a factory recliner back in, but DW says no way, she likes the little rocker.

We had a large Flexsteel recliner in that place when we bought our 99' U270. I got it out without removing anything or taking it apart. We also had the extra large buddy seat co-pilot chair... Here is a picture of the recliner from the back to see if it is similar in size to the one you have. I also think a desk works better there for us.

Richard,
Like Don and Tys, we had the large Flexsteel swivel/rocker/recliner (the '98 Flexsteel/FT chair was, if anything, slightly larger than your '99 Villa/FT chair) in our '98 U270 AND we had the more narrow entry door AND I had installed a large Villa co-pilots chair that had come out of a 2000 U320.  It was a two person chore but did not require any disassembly or removal of the co-pilot's chair, to provide more room.

Just lay the chair on its side with the face/arms facing to curbside, lead the top/back through the door first and sort of rotate the rest of the chair down and out through the door.
Find a strong helper or two and no problem.

I have one of those recliners in my garage. It left the coach in order to make room for the dog's bed. It is available for free to anyone who wants to come get it.

My recollection is that it was removed by two moderately strong men who put it into "full recline" and eased it out the door one its side.

Thanks, everyone!  That's helpful.  We'll tackle the project next week, I hope, when we know what we are doing for a desk to go into that space.  FOT quoted serious dollars to build what Susan would really like — so we're in re-design mode.

She works with robotics engineers, telecommuting full-time from our coach, and thus needs a desk that supports a fair amount of weight:  dual monitors, two (heavy) laptops, etc., as well as a filing cabinet for wiring schematics and project documentation, etc.  Anyone who has bought or built something that might work, and would be willing to post photos, we'd be grateful!

Thanks always, to the wonderful group on this Forum.

I purchased a great desk in kit from from Office Max. They came and delivered it to the coach. A day later, the Office Max crew came and assembled it inside the coach. As for monitors, I have three monitors on a pedestal attached to the desk. This leaves lots of desk space below to use. Computer sits on the floor besides the desk. Desk comes with files cabinets. We have been using this for the last four years and goes down the road fine. Desk also has a pull out draw for the keyboard so chair does not interfere with the slide out bump. Monitors on pedestals make it easy to have the monitors close up to read and easily pushed back to write on the desk. Much, much cheaper than FOT. We tried that route but $3000 price quote compared to a desk for $350 was the deal breaker for me.

Here's the desk I had built for our 36' U270 about 8 years ago.    It replaced a gigantic recliner.

I subsequently cut down the front pedestal so it doesn't stick out into the corridor (much better for two people now.)

Not doing any recording now, so the desk leads a more conventional life :)  The recording equipment drawer is now ham radio equipment.  A file drawer is below it.

The desk is about 24" out from the wall, but could probably serve quite well if it was ~20" deep.
