This is good information , and valuable as well .  Some of us have received a little burn job on this very issue . Expect this will level the playing field a bit . While reading the posted information , I noticed it said that it comes with service tips . Now I feel less intimidated to mess with it . Where else but this forum will you  get this kind of caring information .  ;D        Brad Metzger

Why include a refractometer in a consumables kit?  The electrode tool should be already mounted on the burner.  Annual A-H service should only need the filter and nozzle-$25?

Well now Brett,  you are the brightest lamp in the chandelier.  Very good observation as many owners have heaters that do not have one of the parts in the bag.

There's some discussion on the 'Net regarding problems with boiler fluid in the newer AH's.  I've read a few reports where freeze protection failed to meet spec after just a season or two.  Some problems with the Century fluid some manufacturers are choosing to use as well (that's the green fluid they're talking about in the article; not the kind older AH's use).

You can get the essential parts you need for your Aqua Hot from Roger Burke for much less.  This kit costs more than I have paid to have it done by a professional (like Rudy) including all of the parts.

Thanks Michelle,

I have not heard of the freeze problem but I am not in the top level communications loop.  What was the solution to lack of freeze protection.  Drain and replace is not a cheap deal especially if you have the 16 gallon 600D.  This is not $16 a gallon fluid.

I much prefer the pink Camco Boiler Fluid mixed 50/50 with distilled water to the green Century fluid now in many of the SOB heaters.  Pink and green do not live together either.

Rudy - this was Century fluid in a 2 or 3 year old 450.  Solution was drain and refill.  IIRC the freeze protection tested at only 20 F so not good.

There seems to be a lot of concern problems regarding the use of Century in the newer units (450's.  I haven't read anything on the 600's).  Some folks have sent samples of their very brown, sludged fluid (which chunks settling out of it) out for analysis but it's inconclusive what's going on.  AH insists the owners mixed fluids, but that is definitely not the case.

The discussion is on iRV2.  One good thread is this (very long) one Aqua Hot Fluid turning to sludge? - iRV2 Forums as well as this one Darn Aquahot - iRV2 Forums
