"Security Warning" on PC (Ransomware from beamalarm)

While on the Foretravel site, beamalarm, I clicked on "Joey Bed" to find out what the heck that was.  I had large window pop up on my screen that warned about a security alert and a loud voice telling me that a virus had been down loaded onto my PC.  It also gave instructions on what to do.
DO NOT CLICK ON ANYTHING OR FOLLOW ITS INSTRUCTIONS!  Instead, go to CTRL, ALT, DEL and pull up task manager.  It will show "internet explorer".  Click on "end task".  That should bring you back to your desk top and end the problem.
This has come up about once a month while browsing the most innocuous sites.  The first time it happened, over a year ago, I followed the instructions and it took me to a site that offered to clean my computer for a large fee.  In the meantime, all my PC functions were frozen.  Using another laptop, I found that this was called "ransomware".  I ended up taking my PC into Staples to have them clean my PC, costing about $100.
Again, if you get this, do not click on anything, just follow the procedure I listed.  If anyone else has more info on this, I'd appreciate hearing.
