We just purchased a 36' 1998 U270

After much angst and research we just purchased a 1998 U270. It's a two owner that has been stored inside all its life.  It was used mainly as a hospitality vehicle for trade shows. They would spend the night in a motel most of the time. New tires, new batteries and comes with service records.  Moving up from a P190 Roadtrek anticipating retirement in two to three years. The rear tires were original. Updated Xantrek inverter/charger (2010) and equipped with ice maker and original TV sets. No evidence of any leaks. It's easier to live without slides when you come from a Class B😀  We were impressed with interior storage and use of space along with ease of access to engine and generator.

Part of RV family since 1963.

Welcome to the group!  Many consider the '98 models to be the high point of Foretravel production in terms of quality and reliability.  The 36' length is the perfect blend of interior space and exterior "maneuverability" and "park-ability".  Don't worry about lacking slides - you won't miss what you've never had!  Best of luck in your new adventure.

.Parkingthe FT is abit more difficult...

Even for us, coming from a 31 footer, backing up was (is) daunting. Funny how 5' makes a big difference. You'll have to get into a back-in site, eventually, so some cone markers or such in a empty mall parking lot is a good way to learn. Don't trust "helpers", trust one person that you can communicate with. I've heard some would-be divorces coming up using walkie-talkies, but others seem to do well. Nothing like your sig-other screaming," STOP, STOP, you idiot, I said MY left!"  ^.^d  Hope you've seen "The Long Long Trailer" with Desi & Lucy.

Just wait until you explain to the DW how to signal you (three times!!) when checking the rear coach lites.... And she still doesn't do it the way you explained!!!
STOP---STAY CALM (try to, anyway)-- GET OUT and tell the DW you will do the damn thing yourself!!!
One would think that after seven years any additional instructions would no longer be necessary-----WRONG!!!!! :'(  :'(  ::)  ::)

I am blessed with a very soft spoken DW. After 30 years of cruising, she now has a voice that will raise the dead when landing and embarking.  b^.^d

One thing I've seen, more than a few times, DW & DH swap places when parking. He gives directions, she drives.

RealMccoy, welcome aboard! we have the same coach only a year newer. Right now we are outside of Tyler, but after the first of the month we will be on the road and headed to CO. Let's stay in touch, and as we each learn more about these coaches we can share the wealth.

Welcome from another newcomer.  We are a year earlier.  If you haven't already, take a look at youtube's how to drive a MH done by Lazy-days.  Most helpful with the size adjustment.

Welcome!  We are new to Foretravel as of April of 2016.  We made the change from a Itasca Suncruiser 38 ft with 2 slides to our current coach.  We enjoy our current coach very much and everything it has to offer.

Don't hesitate to use the valuable resources of this great group.  You will learn so much from everyone here.

Welcome and Congrats on your coach.

We have been living full time in our 2001 U270 36 ft no slides for 8.5 years- no desire to settle down.  You have a great machine that will take you everywhere you want to go in comfort and safety.  Take care of her and she will take care of you.

Hope to see you down the road

Dori & I have been doing that for over 5 years. We learned the signals in ladies driving school and she's been doing all the backing ever since. She does let me do the pull throughs every once and a while. :)

Oh and to the OP. Welcome to the club!

see ya
