New Member Greetings

Greetings from Florida

After 40+ years of camping from tents to popups to 5th wheels we've decided that for retirement we want to diesel coach.  We plan to retire before 2020 and are in the research phase of exploring diesel pushers.  We're particularly attracted to the quality craftsmanship of older top line coaches and Foretravel has hit our radar.  In fact our current favorite is the 2001 U295 WTFE floorplan.

We enjoy camping in state parks and exploring out of the way roads, especially at higher elevations so we want to stay as short as we can...hopefully 36' or less.  Ideas of coach models and floor plans are welcome and appreciated.

Although these coaches have drivetrains designed to 100's of thousands of miles we know that its all about the love and care that they receive.  We've seen several 2001 era coaches with less than 150k miles...some with less than 100k.  We'd rather spend the extra money to pre-love a used coach that has been well cared for than buy new...especially since as a Certified Financial Planner I have a sense of the economics.

So hello for now...expect some "beginner" questions and thanks in advance for any of the wisdom you have to offer.  Now that the kids are out of college and gainfully employed we're looking forward to spending time on the road.

Hi.  You will find this forum invaluable.

We have had our 96 270 36' for 15 years.  Full-timed 7 of those years.  After doing the obligatory Civil War Tour and Alaskan trips, we too prefer out-of-the-way places.  I have had to trim or cut down more than one tree to get out of some spots.  (Carry a chainsaw.)

Our MH has no slides.  This provides more storage space and useful load weight.  If we found it uncomfortable to be outside with guests, we pushed the GO button.  We started out NOT towing.  Finished the last two years of FT-ing towing an ATV.  (It could take us places we could not walk.)
