Just curious, do they paint the bumpers yellow, as NASCAR does, indicating rookies?

The Motorcade Club has a school in Nacogdoches in the fall.  If that one is hard to get to then check out

RV School

They have driving instructors all over the country that will meet with you and provide behind the wheel instruction in your coach for you (and another driver if you want).  One or two days.  Worth every dollar.  Two days for two people, 12 hrs total, is $745. Discounts available for AAA, Retired Military, Good Sam, FMCA, Escapees and more.

We have some friends up north that bought into them. The guy was "Capt. Nazi" and brought the DW to tears, as well as the guy. Check the "instructor" before laying out some bucks!  >:D

Somebody specific or every instructor up north in general? That is a pretty big area. ☹️  Steve Mulcahy in Palmdale, CA was excellent.

My wife (Kathy) would like to take a course, but it would have to be in our area somewhere.  She drives a little, but has a problem holding down that air operated control valve, I drive the bus and she drives the towed whenever we go in it.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

X2 on the RV Driving School, I rode 2 days while my wife was getting instruction....in our coach, on real roads, & in real parking lots...even Walmart. As we home base in Livingston at the Escapees park, she just scheduled her course while the instructor was here doing Boot Camp instructions.

Great thing to do with your partner.  Driving school teaches you the basics and helps each of you understand the same things.  Most importantly it gives each of you confidence in each other.  Susan drives about 1/3+ of the time.  Practice is important.  A backup driver is important.

No, I should have been more specific. This "instructor" was up in NW WA. I met him and we stayed with them. I took him to the store one time in the Toad, and he ragged me the whole trip!  :-[

I too used Steve Mulcahy in Palmdale, CA. Really great guy, and very thorough! Did my 2-day course with him in June this year. I've recommended him to several people since.

Ladies Driving School is just wonderful. I will never "love" to drive our coach ... but I certainly can if need be. I am happiest going from Rest Stop to Rest Stop on an interstate ... but it is VITAL that both partners be able to get the rig down the road. Also ... when you know what is required as a driver, you are better able to assist your partner when you are in the co-pilot seat. I am mainly the navigator ... and we travel with TWO GPS units (one big one with lots of lane info for him and one smaller for me that we move to the toad) and a DeLorme road atlas on my lap... and I have a good idea what info needs to be considered.  The combination has saved us time, trouble, and alerted us to some great side trips that we might otherwise have missed!
The other takeaway from LadiesDriving School were the HAND SIGNALS that are vital when getting parked in a site. We cannot use walkie talkies because Jeff cannot hear them ... and I have SAVED MARRIAGES by teaching other women the signals I learned in Nac.
I saw women learn to drive who had been too afraid to even sit in the driver's seat when the rig was parked. The lessons are basic and important ... NO question is ever deemed "dumb" ... and the instructors and road instructors are fantastic.  Everyone is patient, encouraging and helpful.  Just DO IT.

Ladies,
As noted in an earlier post, I am going to the school. But being able to drive is important. I  ended up this June having to drive due to my DH becoming ill.  No place to park at the time, barely enough room to pull over and switch out. Luckily DH had filled the diesel tank, so I  didn't have to fill.  I rolled for 6.5 hrs.  To say there was a bit of fatigue at the end is an understatement. But I was able to get us to our next stop safely.
So I am looking forward to learning more about the coach and how to drive it. I really think any woman worth her salt should learn to drive, even if it is only for an hour or two to spell your husband.

The ladies did very well and a lot of new friends were made. I think all of us will agree that John McKee is an excellent instructor and his wonderful wife Ellen is the unsung hero.  To all the Ladies of the 2016 driving school, we did good!!! To our husbands,  Thanks for letting us expand our horizons and we will gladly share in driving. As we scattered this morning, it was a bit hard to say goodbye.  May we all have safe journeys, and may our paths cross again.
I got an earful from Tank for 30 miles for not taking him on this trip, after I picked him upthis afternoon.
