Air Dryer Heating Element

I'm am replacing the Pure Air Plus Air Dryer with a remanufactured unit from NAPA. Does one use the heating element from the old unit. Or do you rewire the system to accommodate the bare wire ends on the new heating element? Is there someway to separate the electrical connection from the actual heating element. Do you have to remove the plastic cover and heating element from the old unit to remove the air dryer from the mounting bracket? Or is there someway to disconnect the electrical wires from the air dryer and leave the heating unit in the dryer? A lot of questions but I have read everything I can find using search and beamalarm and can find no specifics about the heating element. I found a lot of members talking about replacing the unit, but no specifics about the heating element.

When I replaced a unit with a remanufactured unit, it was plug and play, same plug pulled off old, and then plugged back to the new unit.  Nothing to cut, splice.  Was on my 93.

  When I replaced the one on my 03 I cut the wire and spliced/soldered the replacement.

If no plug, cut wire and reconnect.  Nothing comes off old or new, including heater.  But if the old has an odd shaped brass valve on the air dryer port, move that valve to the new, as it is an isolation valve that is required.
Loosen large pipe thread fittings on old dryer before removing from coach, as they could be tight, and out of the coach there may not be a good way to get leverage with air dryer sitting loose on workbench.
