FUEL TANKcapacity and other specs - 95 U320 SE

In reading another thread about fuel tank capacities it seems that the published fuel capacity on my coach is greater than others report for theirs.

The published capacity for my 95 U320 SE is 180 gal. Is this the capacity that other owners of this year and model have witnessed?

Other capacities are stated as:
Grey= 75gal.
Black= 56 gal.
Fresh= 112 gal.

Are these capacities in line with your coaches of the same year and model?

It also states in the Beam reference a Cummins M11 with 450hp. I believe when I obtained a spec sheet from Cummins for my engine it was 400hp.

It appears he has and at least his coach's engine has a different spec

Yes, I read the specs on the Beam site, that is my go to reference source.
My post deals with the accuracy of those published specs and what the true specs are.

Our coach has a 180 gal tank I read. I have the factory sales package at home with that volume and I recalled the capacity matched Barry's figures. I'll post the brochure for fun facts once I get "home."

Our 400 horse M11 also has a Primus hydronic system and a bath mounted (forward) rear roof air. Wonderful coaches. P

You might look for a label on the the fuel tank put there by the manufacturer.  It will list the tank capacity.

The numbers for the water tanks don't seem right.  I think the '96 model U320 listed shows an image of the original brochure: 1996 U320 Foretravel Specifications
I think your '95 will be the same - my '91 has identical capacities as listed for the '96.

Don't think they are very accurate, do not believe any 2 axle Foretravel built in the 90's had a gvwr of 42000 lbs. Axle capacities were only about 34000 lbs

I have the Primus, but my A/C unit is over the rear bed. I like the idea of it more forward.
Have you confirmed your fuel tank capacity to be 180gal?

I think it is not uncommon to find discrepancies between old published specs and actual coach content.  Barry simply scans the old literature and posts it on his (VERY much appreciated) web page, so of course he can't be responsible for the accuracy of every single detail.  There is also the well known Foretravel habit of changing/upgrading/customizing coach content on the production line.  Often two identical models with very close build numbers will have totally different equipment.  The factory spec sheet for our '93 U280, for instance, says we should have a Allison MT 647 transmission, when in fact we enjoy a MD3060.  I'm am happy our coach does not match the specs!  8)

Lon,
I think the only way to get the facts would be to measure the tanks and do the math.

Here are the capacities for our 1995 U320C SE:

GVWR              32,000 lb
Front GAWR 12,000 lb
Rear GAWR      20,000 lb
GCWR              38,000 lb
Fresh Water          102 gal
Gray Water          110 gal
Black Water            54 gal
Fuel Tank              150 gal
LP Tank                  64 gal (tank has 80 gal WC; LP is filled to the 80% level)

Don't expect to use the full 150 gal of diesel. I generally fill when the dash gauge reads about 1/4 tank. That translates to just under 100 gal when re-filled on level ground, and leaves a reserve for running the generator and/or AquaHot.

The engine is the Cummins M11, originally rated at 370 Hp and up-rated to 400 Hp; 1350 lb-ft torque.

Here's our capacities. Just less than a year after Davids. Coach was set up to boondock at RV trade shows with three solar panels. We've added a couple more panels for a total of 465 watts. Probably 440 effective since the age has dulled the panel faces. I've pumped as much as 144 gals into the tank when we were traveling on a holiday weekend in the middle nowhere. First stop with diesel you could hear the coach gasping and sucking on the filler hose.

GVWR              32,000 lb
Front GAWR    12,000 lb
Rear GAWR      20,000 lb
GCWR              38,000 lb
Fresh Water      207 gal
Gray Water      100 gal
Black Water        68gal
Fuel Tank          150 gal
LP Tank      Two 30 lb bottles.

Really big, BIG tank. Nice that it keeps from having to stop as often. I'll drain the waste wherever it's legal but we are finicky about the water we put in so the big, BIG tank helps, allows us to pick and choose. When we had an SOB we filled with water west of Phoenix and took four fills and drains to get the salt taste out. The big, BIG tank really helps with that. b^.^d

Looks like they got it in OK. Couldn't pour a quart of water around the fresh, gray, and black tanks. Never looked at any other installs except for photos when the tanks were out.
