Spartan adds collision mitigation, other features to chassis

I noticed Spartan announced some cool chassis safety features at FMCA

RV APS - Spartan Motors

Collision mitigation, active braking, stability control.

Availability includes the K2 and K3 chassis for 2017, and is manufacturer-dependent.  The 2017 Entegra Cornerstone was announced with their version (calling it En-telligent).  We have seen it demonstrated and it's awesome!  Newmar didn't announce it with the new 2017 model year, but the Mountain Aire, London Aire, Essex, and King Aire are included in the 2017 models Spartan mentions as having APS so perhaps a mid-year change.

I'm surprised Spartan didn't include it on the K3GT chassis the Realm is built on (Newmar dropped K3GT from King Aire in 2017, opting to go with their in-house STAR chassis addition to the K3 instead), but APS would be spec'd from the RV brand side, in this case from MHSRV so perhaps for 2018?

I believe if I had the "training wheels" like in the video and a big Vee plow on the front I wouldn't have to worry about the drivers (read idiots) who want to pull in front then hit their brakes. If we all had that kind of protection pretty soon there would be no problems with other drivers.

Here's a demo of the En-Telligent features on the 2017 Cornerstone:

I can only guess that more semi-autonomous features such as lane keeping assist are just around the corner.

The 2015 Cornerstone we drove had a version of lane assist.  I'm guessing it was buggy since they did away with it for the next model year.

When I ordered my 2016 Tahoe I got it with the Adaptive Cruise Control. It has taken me a little while to get use to it but it sure makes driving easier.  As you come up behind a vehicle ahead of you it slows you down to the speed they are going.  It is real easy to be going down the highway and then look down and you are running 60 mph when you had cruise set to 75. When you pull in the lane to pass it automatically speeds you back up to what you have the speed set for.  When someone passes you and they pull just in front of you, It will slam on the brakes to give you your distance between vehicles again.

Prevost had its Aware system since the 2012 models. What makes its system interesting is that it automatically shifts the retarder to slow the coach, and only applies the brakes if necessary.

That must be in a Liberty.  Last I researched it, that's the only converter that uses the Allison retarder.

Outlaw uses it too.

Probably Emerald as well, then.  Both are done by the same converter in Texas; Outlaw for MHSRV and Emerald for Liberty as their "low end" conversion.
