Propane Tank monitor

The remote monitor device for my propane tank has gotten broken - probably because I had some 1 gallon containers stowed there.
As best I can tell, there is the gauge itself and then there is a disk which sits on top of the dial and sends a measurement of how far it has rotated to the Audit computer for display.

As you can see from the pictures, the front disk has separated from the dial itself.
I assume that I need to go to a propane dealer to get the remote dial and sender replaced and while doing so will lose the propane in the tank.
I am not particularly pleased with that route.

That is a DIY job.  Unless they have changed the way the gage is mounted you should be able to loosen the 2 smaller Philips head screws and remove them,  the gage should fall out in your hand.  If not lift it out with an instrument screwdriver.  Underneath there will be a brass button that is held in place with the 4 big screws. DO NOT FITTLE WITH THE 4 OUTER SCREWS. as this holds the propane in the tank.

I don't think that is the right replacement gage as yours appears to have mounting wings that the 2 small Philips screws go through.

No offense, but that tank has seen better days. On some coaches, you want the tank drained, which means driving out to the boonies to drain it, which takes a while. Fire regs prohibit most outlets from working on propane shut-offs & senders unless the tank is drained. See a pro, or two.

You can probably get the sender from a rv dealer and the 2 small screws are what hold it in and you will not loose any propane

I don't know if mine is similar but if you loosen the two little phillips screws just a bit you can change the tank reading and the dash gauge reading by rotating the dial.
Best thing to do, once you have replaced the parts, is to do a fill at a propane dealer, and then calibrate your gage to read 3/4 full or whichever is your maximum

That is a replaceable gauge,,, go see your local propane distributor that does forklifts & motor fuel..... easy squeezy DIY replacement.....
