Chassis type

I have never owned a Foretravel, but I'm looking at a 2004 U320. I have read that some have a ten bag chassis system with eight being outboard. This sounds like a Roadmaster. Do Foretravels have a Roadmaster chassis?

How do Foretravel chassis's compare to other high end chassis?

They have made their own chassis and it is a great riding and depriving chassis. The difference in eight or ten air bags is the addition of a tag axle

The air bags Foretravel have used are bigger diameter then some of the other coach builder which equals less pressure in the bag for same load, which equals smoother ride.

Thanks for all the input. Does anyone know where I could see pictures of the chassis? The Roadmaster chassis is well known for it's H frame design. I'm wondering if it is similar.

One of our members who was a sales manager for FOT when Foretravel unveiled the 8 outboard mounted air spring unihome chassis at a show recounts how Monaco engineers went gaga over the innovation. In other words, Foretravel invented the concept. I have looked at the Monaco derivation, and in my opinion, the FOT version is much more robust. Aside from the larger air springs, heavier gauge steel tubing, mounting points much more reinforced, etc.
Byt the way, I have looked at the under belly of some of the higher end Monacos and was quite surprised to see that the basement floor framing was exposed angle iron supporting what looked like a plywood basement floor. No insulation, not a smooth seamless fiberglass underbelly like Foretravels.

This is the closest thing I have ever seen to a picture/diagram of a full Foretravel chassis.  Do note that this one is based on the 2007 Nimbus, but the theory should be the same for a 2004

Thanks for the link. Looks good. Would anyone like to share an opinion on a 2004 U320 Foretravel with a 500HP Cummins with 90,000 miles? It looks very nice. I haven't driven it yet. Anything special to look for?
